I was nearly wasn't oing to buy this car as i THEN hated cups on mk2's grown on me now look mint on mk1's. There new only 4 months old, May be changing them to wider cups 8jx15 et18. Ones on my car are 7jx15 et20. Only thing putting me of at mo is 8j width cost 55 pounds more than 7j. Bloody Teefs

Lots of people confuse royal blue with helios blue. Royal bluem has only been used since 1990 on big bumper mk2's. (I think). Oak green since 1987 Ereg.  Bring it on royal blue best colour for mk2 in my opinion.  Met black next.

Nice car mate, very clean

How much you lowered her by?
Title: Re: Royal Blue Metallic appreciation thread !
Post by: Ktuludays on 09 December 2006, 18:34
she is lowered 35mm all round on koni springs. previous owner said it was a full kit.

further investigation has revealed it isn't. it's just springs. it still rides ok though but puts a lot of pressure on the top mounts.

a full koni set up will be purchased after the bodywork is done.

Post by: Neaty on 09 December 2006, 18:37
might be worth getting some G60 top mounts.

looks quite low for -35mm

this colour aint that rare.  nor is oak green.  take a look in the classifieds on say pistonheads..  then try to find a pic of a 'calypso green' GTi,  now thats rare

are the g60 top mounts harder wearing then? could it be worth get poly top mounts or will the ride be stiff as fook?

previous owner told me it was 35mm but it may be more. it does catch occasionally when leaving steep driveways.

Post by: Neaty on 10 December 2006, 12:19
yea apparently so, they are the list for me 2 buy in the near future. not really sure about poly ones though never experienced them.  :undecided:

Royal blue is one of the rare colours, not the most rare however, but still hard to come by!  As said it was only available from 90 onwards so only 2 years availbility.  Anyone who says its not rare should try looking for panels!

3 Latest pics, 1st one is after a nice wash, 2nd is after lowering and 3rd is with my TSW Omegas fitted

spend a good few hours polishing and waxing and it comes up fantastic, especially when the sun hits it, it shines in a kinda pearlecent colour of green and purples i love it.

im hopefully going to get mine re sprayed at some point next year because there are a few bits here and there that are doing my head in and i want it perfect.

Yeah TSW Omegas, its taken me longer to find a set than it did RBM panels!  Very rare wheel, and IMO the only decent ones TSW ever made

Yeah I've got caps for mine, but the rear ones wont fit on because the dust cap for the rear wheel bearing sticks out too far.  I've just bought a set of spacers to remidy the problem though

The second is Fire and Ice (I think) and Edition One, continental Europe only colours.
