:cry:replaced both relays but it cut out today , so i bit the bullet and ordered some software and a cable for laptop so i can drive around with it plugged in waiting for the fault to show up
-
If there is a fault condition , it will show up when you read the codes , even if it is interrmittent.

I know I keep posting about these, I make no gain other than trying to save people money, but if you just want to read/erase codes try one of these off ebay for a grand total of £25 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GS100-OBD-2-CHECK-ENGINE-SCANNER-CODE-READER-EOBD-OBD2_W0QQitemZ330035819118QQihZ014QQcategoryZ30921QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem. I got one about 2 months back and it has already paid for itself.

I've got one of those because I have an ABS issue.. But the stupid fecking thing doesn't want to read my ABS codes (you know how it does 3 sections - engine, airbags, and ABS). Reads/clears Airbag/engine fine, but not ABS. Works ok on my mate's VR6 though, so it's not the unit itself..
Quite depressing really. Still, Hopefully mr MOT tester won't notice that the ABS light and the airbag light go out at exactly the same time... ahem.

Oh yep, sorry , I just keep presuming that everybody has later OBD2 cars as that's what mine is .
I must admit I have used it an older pre '95 car and it didn't read the ABS (but did read engine and SRS). Good point.
I think the abs ecu must have been changed for the OBD2 cars.
How old/what reg is yours?

95 M. I obviously just missed it. Ah well, like I said my ABS light does turn off now, so the system must be working fine..... *whistles innocently*.
In all seriousness, I do intend getting it fixed, and the fact that it's an MOT failure annoys me, since my brakes are otherwise perfectly fine (in fact better than fine - new discs/pads all round in feb/march this year). stupid MOT laws... grumble grumble..
Hard to tell exactly what the system thinks the problem is without being able to read the ABS though. I picked up an ABS pump off Ebay just in case it's that. Supposedly it works, but even if it doesn't it still only cost 99p
