Title: Valve caps........
Post by: KevGTI on 26 September 2006, 20:22: Can someone tell what type of valve caps come on the 18" Monza II's.....

Just checked the my tyre pressures, and found that I have 4 black plastic valve caps - all different. Which makes me think that someone has nicked the originals...... but I can't remember what they were.

I can't imagine that anyone would want to nick 4 plastic valve caps and replace them with odd ones, so I'm assuming they weren't bog standard black plastic.

Post by: chris.carlton on 29 October 2006, 07:58: When we picked up the car it had no valve caps! Stealer put on 4 plastic but i knew no better. Car going in on Monday to have new window seal fitted due to wind noise (see other post) and i will be asking for correct ones to be provided!

These arrived today! Look good - lets see how long they last - parked on the street in SW2 is not the best really :sad:

Doc, can you figure out a way to electrify valve caps?

On a similar theme, how does the low tyre pressure system work? How does it read the pressure?

Post by: Phil mcavity on 01 November 2006, 18:23: i payed 50p for a set of 4 black caps cus some kids nicked em for air riffle bullets no-doubt. not worth putting chrome ones on , they will be on the car what for all of a week,those things are like beacons, kids spot em a mile off!

Post by: Cass on 02 November 2006, 09:56: TPS is linked to ABS sensors and reads any changes to the rolling circumference of the tyre, which changes when it deflates. There is a button in front of the gear lever to reset the TPS with the ignition switched on when you have adjusted the tyre pressures (hold and press the TPS button for more than 1 second until audible tone is heard) and a warning light in the dash pod.

Mine's got the stainless steel...... and they're all still there 2 months on! :grin:

I'd have thought mr stealer will chnage these for the sake of a couple of quid to keep you happy :rolleyes:

The car came with them on, but as I've said before, because I bought it from an importer I dont really have much of an idea whether they are standard spec or not - it was very much a case of take it or leave it! :shocked:
