where it is? just rev your car round the clock and you'll find out

thought there is no point hitting the limiter as the power is already tailing off by the time you reach it

Wasn't planning on hitting it, ever.

ok, different angle, what's optimum gear change rpm in the 8v?

according to my 8v power graphs max power occurs at just a tad over 5000. no point going above that so i dont.  why would you want to hit them rev limiter?? 8v's are usually good from 1250 to about 5000.

surely the fastest quarter mile time would involve getting as close to the rev limter as possible without actually hitting it, to make the most of each gear...   :undecided: :undecided:

no the rev limiter is only there to stop the engine revving its self to bits. it isnt a gauge of power. most engines reach max power quite a bit below the rev limiter. best thing is get to a rolling road and find out where your power band is

quickest 1/4mile will be when your using max power not max revs. in fact once the power starts tailing off its best to change gear becuase u will start to slow fractionally otherwise

Aye 5800 was for a brand new 8v engine (from me little golf history book)

As has been mentioned fastest quarter miles times are based on when the most power is being used, not use of the rev limiter. Besides you are lucky to get out of 3rd by the time the qtr mile is up.

Mines 1.8 8v i'll have a go against you tomorrow.  usually rev mine to about 6,300ish due to cam im using. Range on cam is 3500-7500, fuelling ok to 6300 when tested on r/r.

yeah rev limiter changes when you get a different cam, or rather you have to change it lol
