Rallye hasn't really changed much in the years i have been seeing it. Been resprayed a few times, and new wheels and that erm interesting interior.
That poxy orange mk1 was there again looking the same as it did 4 years ago.

Aye i can understand that, but believe me by the end of show season you will become sick of it.
Anyhow, here are some of mine, excuse the pics, they are from my phone and i was shivering a little cos i was bloody cold.

i had been around twice by half 1 n on my way home by 2, my mate was lookin bored by then so had to leave, was good to get out on a sunday thou.
-
me and my mate had a good laugh it was bloody freezin though it was only 4 degrees according to the computer on the car and in manchester when we left it was 10 and sunny
on the way back was funny we were having a laugh racing a mk4 2.0 he could not keep up with my mates white vr6 then we were chased by a audi a8 which we could not loose when it eventually got past it was a 4.2 quattro
-
Quite a nice few cars there :)
That orange mk1 looks.. unfinished.. though, where the subs are. Dunno, it just looks like they've been thrown in the back to me.
But im only seeing a close up, it may look alright when its in context.
-
The mk1 usually has a metal plate over the top of the speakers which goes right over the top to the back of the seats. Imo it was never really good when it was done 4 years ago and now it is just stale. Different folks and all that.

slick ,on your pic of the blue beetle, front view, is that a fox trying not to bee seen in a carrier bag in the right of the pic,or am i seeing things?
-
lol so the show lived up to it's name again!
can't be too harsh on janet the rallye owner, it has changed a massive amount over the years, plus what are you supposed to do after spending all that money on a show car? hide it away? :)
-
Drive it... :lipsrsealed:

I didn't know this was still around, good ol' Bernard Newbury, this has been around for 10-12 years in this guise.
-
Yeah i had a quick word with a guy about it and was amazed when he told me how long it had been around. Then again saying that you can never go far wrong with a ghia.

i cant believe i missed it looked pretty cool i was workin in town so couldnt get there but saw plenty of nice cars goin through town to and from the show
-
well i chose to go to the football instead of dubfreeze and we got beat 2-0! gutted!
-
I told you to go to freeze
-
Can i just say, the people that are complaining that it was rubbish. It's a swap meet, not a show as such. Stop f**king complaining all the time, it's was a aircooled swapmeet when it was started, only over the last few years has it allowed watercooled cars in, including the traders.
-
I wanna see the fox
-

hehe the orange cabro the trailer queen!!! thats why it hasn't got a stone chip on it in 4 years!
Why build a car and not drive it??? what is the point??
-
exactly my point. Can't stand that thing. Didn't it get told to leave the show and shine at action cos it entered in daily driver or something??
-
and forgot to put the rallye yep it is pink but it does belong to a girl and she has made a good point of it :-)  one way to stop your other half from driving it!
She has had the car around for a good few years but she makes changes to it and yes she drives it and that is what I think she should do.

I do love the pink interior tbh B;s exact word were "It looks like a girl thingy"

Completely agree... doesnt building a car then not driving it completely destroy the point of it being a car?
I've got some big plans for my mk1 when i finally pull some cash together (Those that have seen my latest mock-up and list will know what i mean!) but i intend to drive it everyday and on every road trip i make up n down the country (and europe!).
-
cool good for you
Its like our 20v caddy, yes it will be at a few shows this year but with a few more stonechips, it was built to be driven and driven hard, maybe not so many 1/4 miles as would like it to last a bit longer but have to try out the new LDS somewhere!
-
To be fair to Janet from what I've heard she does drive her rallye a fair bit, and that paint job is AWESOME!!!
I just wish i could find some one who'd spray mine full stop never mind to that sorta quality! I though it was a good show, bit quiet but some really good bargins! Telford next.........
-
the paint on the rallye was like glass, ive just painted mine n its looking good but i got it to drive not to keep in the garage and just get it out for shows..fair play to the people who can afford to do that but thats not for me,,

Intrestingly ive just bashed all my plans into a spreadsheet n totalled up the cost of the parts and estimates for the work i would be getting done on it....
...its come to £5300
I REALLY NEED A JOB
Will be worth it when its finished though
-
i really wish i'd attended this .. that ghia looks lush.
dub freeze is only about a half hour drive from mine too :( really disappointed i didnt go.
-
Was all set to break my event cherry and get up there from Colly but stuff got in the way  Never mind, soon as I square away the new gearbox, refurd me steelies, get a paint job, change that front wing, finish re-covering the interior, change me dash LEDs, fit a wiper conversion, replace the parcel shelf support..... any shows in 2010 I should know about!
-
anyone like my passat then?????? that does 13,000 a year ! .....will be at a few shows this year too
ant
(ps it was the black 20vt with the ps2 in it)
-
i know last year mate of mine camped in a bug with no heating, thats how die hard he was. as stated dub freeze is 90% aircoolers, but then again you will get the same sorthg of thing with action and ed 38.
2 totaly different things...
alex that kubelwaggen or thing looks fekkin awsome.
