Any ideas welcome.
The only thing that seems to be routed sensibly are the fuel lines. The rest is such a jumble, its a shame cos the car looks pretty much spot on apart from when you lift the bonnet.

Make an mdf pannel to cover it all! Not much you can do really. you could start by getting some ht lead clips and line them up nice.
-
errrrrr coloured piping, some polished bits a nice lead seperator or clips.......
or better still how about a 1.8t..................

I know it sounds tacky but buy a fake braided hose kit from halfrauds and tidy it up using them. Would add a little bit of fake bling to the bay aswell.
-
that could work slick, just think that clipping some of those wires together so they run in line is about all u can do with out spendin a fortune. Some polished bits under there always catch the eye too
-
dont open the bonnet
(sorry could'nt resist that one)
-
Cheers guys,
Don't open the bonnet, simple but the most efective.
Any idea if there is anyone that makes proper braided coolant hoses, those halfords kits do work well to tidy them up, but they're a bit like faux carbon fibre in the styling stakes.

buy some ty wraps and snips

go round the engine bay with cable ties and convoluted tubing etc grouping things together. take as much off as you dare and clean it all and paint it. route all cables, etc behind stuff. get some coloured or at least clean black vacuum hoses. when i did mine i routed all the wiring loom through the chassis legs and then just hid as much as i could.....

errr also missing a few pulleys, timing belt, alternator, but you get the idea tw@ts
-
also another 8 valves

how tidy you want your engine bay all depends on how deep your pockets are... but if you could find maybe £400 you could tidy the whole lot up nicely and net yourself a useful performance gain by sticking a pair of webers in there and losing all that messy K-jet stuff?!
...or perhaps cheaper, get a pot of TFR and carefully clean all that you can, get the radiator surround and cambelt cover powder coated (try swanick gritblast if you live near hampshire - they were really good with my wheels), a new rocker cover (or a mk3 item and polish it), some fancy coloured HT leads with some clips and a Allsmiles header tank, then relocate your washer bottle to the boot maybe and add a strut brace.

^^^ don't get an all smiles header tank, they suck ass, are made in india... badly... and weigh a frickin ton!

...didn't know that - I thought they were meant to be nice bits of kit! ...maybe a Bailey one?
-
A can of glitter spray would make it look pretty!
-
! ...maybe a Bailey one?
yes indeed! i got a bailey one and it weighs less than the plastic one i took off and is a top quality bit of kit. no offence to all smiles but some of their stuff is seriously poor quality and over priced, other stuff is pretty cool..
-
cover all electrics with a plastic bag. Drive down your local jet wash. spray on engine de-greaser and then blast it one
Then spray that rusted radiator housing black. sorted :smug:
