Title: ESP FAULT
Post by: Norwichdaz on 15 January 2026, 18:15
As above really.

Tbf I was going to take car into a garage as last week or so has been sounding like a clunk when I set off after letting off the handbrake then for the first few brakes back left sounds like grinding noise but then goes away.

Was going to take it in to check over the caliper etc.

Then tonight I have the car with the squiggly lines lol come up and say esp fault, in the middle of traffic was great fun! The D on the auto was flashing and wouldnt let me move just rev. Didnt know what to do, turned off and on and I could move again.

Google says a sticky caliper could poss be the problem  to set this light etc off.

So have juat booked into a garage to have a look 😬

The clunk will more than likely be the pad unsticking from the disc. The caliper maybe sticking slightly and just needcleaning and regreasing. I have to do my Leon ones more or less every year as it lives outside in a wet and windy area.
The fault code though maybe something else if it wouldn't let you move. A scan will give you more info. Most garages will have a scan tool and see what exact faults are stored.
