Did go for a White like on the picture! , have some nice dark wheels coming and som other black stuff. So think a white will be awesome :smiley:

Congratulations Wide, exciting times ahead with your new Golf R Mk8. I am still tempted to go for a Golf R Mk8 myself, even with the huge price tag. But will wait until GTI Edition 45 released and/or the pandemic situation has calmed down as am working from home and not driving much at all at present. What options did you add to your config on the Golf R?

Congratulations Wide, exciting times ahead with your new Golf R Mk8. I am still tempted to go for a Golf R Mk8 myself, even with the huge price tag. Yes!, drive a lot of trackdays!. But 99% is just a going around town as a daily. So a hardcore like a Clubsport S is not a option for me :)
And the Car that is tested that did 4,4 in wet with wintertires. Was fully loaded with heavy leather seats e.g. Mine will be lighter that that one! ;)
Yes a lot of pic and movies will come, posting every day on my instagram some content with the cars.. :whistle:

I think there is still a little hesitancy over here. It's caused by these things
The bad vibes everyone seems to have about the mk8 (which I'd say are actually not based on reality, just Internet noise), the price (in the UK it attracts an unwelcome "luxury car tax" for five years), a global pandemic and up until yesterday a fear that ten percent import duty was about to be added on top.
I should think maybe later in 2021 some of the other things will be resolved too.

But i got a sick deal on my car, so it was much more Expensive than a GTI.. :whistle:

Although the configuration I would want on a Golf R MK8 would be a bit too expensive even for my palette, I am still seriously tempted, and supect I might end up getting one later in to next year (2021) once I know more about whether the Edition 45 is too good to miss out on or not, what is going on with the Pandemic and how things go after brexit has been around for a while. Our prime minister seems to be focussed on bumbling around and completely wrecking all that was OK or good about the UK.

There may well be people on the R forum that have put in an order by now.
Times are indeed strange with too many uncertainties for us UK based members but the price, or rather actual cost, of the R is very high here and the car has actual real competition now instead of a market niche almost to itself like the mk7 did (the 7R was also comparatively good value when launched).
I think the 8R will become the darling of the press and YouTube crowd so popularity will increase once there are a few around.

Most of us think Boris Johnson is a bit of a bumbling idiot at the best of times, and to be honest his hair is really strange. he has been likened to being the UK version of Donald Trump right down to the strange hair.
I don't think the world will be ending right now, just waiting for all vaccines to be a given and the the world to return to some form of normality before purchasing a new car, so I can enjoy the car as it depreciates rather than buy it and not use as I am currently working from home and the only journey I do right now is around 1 mile each way once a week. But cannot wait for the time when i can use the car as I would like to, and then start looking at buying my next new car.
Hope you enjoy the Golf R 'Wide' I currently have Golf R MK7 and still get a smile on my face when drive and look at it.

If its anything like my current stock, Golf R MK7 to drive at the very least, then I am sure it will deliver, as my Golf R is the first car I have not really had an overwhelming itch to replace it with a new car in a couple years. I am now in my 4th year of ownership and still love driving it whenever I get in to the car. Which is why the next car I buy, has to be something extra special to replace it.

Switched from the Golf 8 R to our Mk 7.5 Performance😬🏁...honestly I have to admit that there’s a clear difference between those two cars on pretty much all aspects.
