 Jim, isn't that exactly what you've had done on your 7.5 GTI performance WITH GPF?

Maybe he's thinking the resonator and GPF are one and the same and is worried about error messages if removed?!?!

as a prospective new owner, I was wondering about this! Has anything changed on the very latest GTI models compared to the early post WLTP cars? The reason I ask is because I also follow the R forum (why not  ) and info there says

https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/33932-r-75-post-gpf-filter-mods/

indicates no resonator box if I understand correctly or is the R  just different??

The newest golfs have no resonate as they have the gpf instead

Are you sure about that?!

Our Golf 245 (registered July 19), is a DKTB engine code with a GPF.

It has a resonator, as I was under it last weekend.

gpf doesn't replace the resonator so they have both.

Yes I think perhaps the OP slightly confused.

This might help..

so going back to my earlier point then, are we saying brand new gti's have the gpf and res box but "R's do not then  -  is there
something different with the set up on the R then or have I misunderstood? Its just that I thought if the R did not the GTI would not?

So you can delete the centre resonator like you can on the MK7 without any issues then?

So it is possible to get res delete even though it has gpf?

It’s a slightly different fitting for the 7.5 Performance as different exhaust to any of the other GTIs. I was informed by the VAG specialist that the GPF is the round box ahead of the res delete in the picture but others aren’t sure this is the case.

It’s not a huge difference straight away but does sound good. Here’s a bit of footage of mine:

I assume you have you not looked underneath to check then? If it has one it appears from the pics that it is fairly obvious?

Just spoke to the guys at progressive parts n they said they would have to make a clamp for it n charge me an hrs labour instead of the normal half hr it should've taken, is this what they did with yours?

Yes, they had to make a different clamp but imagined in the last 12 months they might have now got a standard fitment for the 7.5 P
