With immediate effect the Golf MK7.5 is now closed for ordering.......
Time for a MK8 forum?
-
I thought talk of March being the close date was leaving it late.
Wonder how many TCR's there will be? Expect it will be quite limited what with the price etc. Hopefully help residuals a bit (or at least here's hoping )
-
Wow - I was just in time with mine, although mine was from stock!
-
0% finance on Golf has really exceeded the expectations of the brand and orders have been flying in filling all UK production slots.
-
Oh crap.
I was half way through a DTD order :-(
-
Thankfully I already have a build week (of 4) confirmed - I suspect mine will be towards the end of the run then!

I've just had a PCP quote back on a TCR.... the GFV residuals are terrible!
Not sure why, but oh well.
-
Because one has dabbled in the dark side
-
Looks like I got mine in just in time. I hope they don't cancel it 😀

Finance houses tend to view anything perceived as "special edition" as having a lower future value (same happened with the ED40 CS), then factor in the end of the model run and the algo's will be predicting a hefty price drop at resale.
Howmanyleft show 420 registered TCR so slightly less than the ED40. Short term I wouldn't expect the price to hold up, especially given that every ex-demo / dealer principle car appears to be on Autotrader at the mo, but as many seem to rightly regard the 7/7.5 as the high water mark for the GTI hang on to one for a good few years and I imagine they will one day begin to appreciate, although by then we'll all be riding in Johnny cabs and car ownership will probably have gone the same way as keeping a horse has

That was the only conclusion I could come up with too.
Oh well, back to "Golf alternative" shopping!

I had the chance to order - this morning.
But the numbers were so bad I've had to leave it - as much as I really wanted a TCR.
-
I had a price yesterday based on 0% finance, decided to sleep on it and order one this morning. sods law haha.
I think ill go back to the original plan of a 6 month old one.

You can still order 'your' M135i though...

Yes I am back at looking at that hard again this morning.
Grey, 300ish horses, Golf sized, roughly Golf shaped... CHEAPER...its not a bad choice ;-)

Cheaper, more future proof, faster, plusher inside... but not as much fun!
The 135i is a great choice though (still prefer the TCR personally but sense would say to get the BMW instead)

There must be some great deals on in stock Golf R’s about which would keep under the £40k tax and it’s still an amazingly accomplished car that is very satisfying to own and drive plus will keep decent residuals.

 so true!

End of a great era as far as Golfs go.
Roll on the mk8 🤮
I reserve the right to change my mind about how ugly the mk8 is!!

Thanks - I have an order under way and have been given a 0% quote - I have also asked to be accepted on this scheme. However, how do I or others actually know if the 0% will be honoured?? Reason I ask is that I am concerned that the 0% was offered and became very popular according to the above, but what if after accepting those many orders and with customers assuming they are getting 0%, VW decide to pull that plug on that offer - Can they withdraw the finance offer after orders have taken place? My dealer has simply said that is the current finance offer but could be withdrawn at any point which is not very reassuring. I hope VW would stand by what was offered at the order point! Evo1986 are you able to clarify as much as you are able to ?
cheers
Hopefully Evo or others can reassure me?

If you've been given finance figures and you've ordered on the basis of those then that's what you should get. I ordered mine on Sunday but was given the finance figures printed out along with an order number(suspect they've hijacked another order for mine).

Thanks - I actually ordered in November when only 4.9% was on offer so initially received that finance quote, the 0% was recently introduced so I asked my dealer to provide a 0% quote (which they did) and confirmed I wished to transfer to that scheme and as far as I know I am on that scheme. But going back to my original question, can a dealer withdraw the finance (across the board) after customers have placed an order and accepted/been given a finance quote? In the small print I expect they can but I wondered if this was common place? I am just concerned that many may have purchased based on 0% so I would not expect it to be withdrawn between the order point and collection point.

Does the 0% offer not take out the £1,500 VW contribution that was given eg on my 3.6% finance deal (March 19) thus almost nullifying the present free finance offer?
That’s what I understood from a quick check of the VW offers website yesterday.
-
0% deal meant you lost the £2000 deposit contribution but it still works out cheaper over a PCP.
-
Yep, but 0% offer is largely smoke and mirrors (as ever).
-
How? 0% with no deposit. How is it smoke and mirrors?
-
Because the VW cash contribution is taken out of the calculation.
Or have I got this wrong?
My PCP calculation was based on the starting price bring £1500 lower than list price.
-
How much you're borrowing and how long for will dictate which finance offer is best.
Not everyone has the means to take out finance and pay off straight away to get the deposit contribution. 4.9% interest on a £30k+ car mounts up after a while.

correct about losing the deposit contribution but the 0% is better than 4.9% on a PCP.

If you're buying a TCR for maybe £32k discounted, with 4.9% finance, you'll pay a smidge over £4k in interest.
Or buy same car for £34k discounted and pay no interest- you're swapping a £2k discount for a £4k interest saving - and you're £2k better off taking the 0% finance.
-
If you've had a credit check with VW finance and been properly quoted by VWFS, you'll get the 0% deal, they won't withdraw it - they've made that offer to you.
However, if the dealership has just punched some numbers into their computer as an illustration, VWFS have not offered you finance on those terms and so if it is pulled before you do the proper credit check, you won't get it.
Something similar happened to me when I ordered my R in Sept 2014. Finance wasn't finalised by dealership when GFV was £18.5k, it later dropped to £15.5k and it meant PCP terms were £80pm more with no access to the earlier deal.

Thanks - I have checked and it is a quote by VWFS which is valid for 30 days - I think it is the normal quote they will print off/send you but I have not signed anything as yet and I don't believe most customers sign (or get officially approved?) the finance until or shortly before collection or is that wrong? If that is the case, as 0% is on offer can I sign up in advance of collection? Just trying to ensure as best as possible I receive the 0%. Must be plenty of others in same boat as me hence the question
-
In my experience, you sign the finance documents when you sign the order for the car.

If it helps they are still offering 0% on brand new stock cars, I've just done a deal today on 0%.

Is there anywhere you can view new stock cars or is it a matter of ringing the individual dealers?

Some like Listers (and Vindis I think) put them on their website, a lot don’t and you have to phone or visit.

I just looked on Autotrader then made a couple of calls, they list if new unregistered in stock. if pre-registered you will have to pay the 4.9% interest on the finance if thats how your funding, and don't use the new/used filter as it filters out new cars...Listers Loughborough has 3 or 4 listed.

Thanks - unfortunately I had to go the factory build route (and order in advance) to tie in with my VT point
