Had my TS GTI PP a little over a month now. Outstanding car. Here it is alongside my friends Mk 7 Tornado Red.

-
They both look fantastic but I can't help but notice how much nicer the Austins are compared to the Parkers, in my opinion of course.
I'm sure many owners of the facelift GTI will strongly disagree....even though they would be wrong
-
Looks great. I'm really starting to warm to Tungsten silver recently.
-
Both look great, I do like the silver but am biased towards TR, particularly when it has the correct number of doors
Both Parkers and Austins look good, prefer my Santiagos but if I was changing then I wouldn't be disappointed with the 18s. Especially come buying time for tyres, a full set due for mine before winter

Nice, thats the first 7.5 GTI PP i have spotted on here.
How does yours sound compared to the 7?
That looks very like a GEF btw! Which one?
-
Funny you ask that, we compared sound and the 7.5 sounds a lot deeper and has a more prominent 'warble' at idle.
Yes, this is Benson.
-
Looks great Ritchie2. I'm not usually a fan of silver cars, but Tungsten really suits the mk7.5 GTI with the contrasting black trim on the bumpers and sills, and the red GTI accents.
Your mates Tornado Red mk7 GTI looks great too!
-
I've got a Tungsten Silver 7 GTi pp and think it's the best colour for a GTi. I really do not like the Parker alloys on the 7.5 and would need to change them for something else.
-
Parkers seem to be marmite? I like them but can see where people are coming from.
The Tungsten really is a great colour though. You will be surprised how it changes based on where you are, weather and lighting.
-
Car looks great except for the wheels, sorry but your mates wheels look a lot better. Had they still been available I would have been having 18s on my new incoming GTi but as they are not available then it's a Brescia upgrade as a very easy decision.
-
I prefer the Parkers over the Austins.
Good job we don't all like the same thing, boring world otherwise.
-
True story: as my wife approached the new GTI she heard a young boy say in an enthusiastic voice, "Look at those wheels daddy!" He was impressed with the Parker alloys. That is an unbiased opinion!
I think most people like the new alloys. There are just a few people here who seem to enjoy putting them down at every opportunity for some strange reason.
-
I prefer the Parkers; not a fan of the flush with the tyre look of the Austins.

That's the problem, they look like they were designed by a 2 year old.
-
It's not putting them down it's stating that someone doesn't like them. Not everyone has to like them!!
-
The parkers are the worst looking wheel in the performance Golf range. I'd go as far to say that they're the worst in the entire range, barring perhaps the e-Golf wheels.
Thats just my personal opinion, not intending to slate anyone else's choices.

My true story..... I was driving recently in my Macan along a road near a beach. Group of young guys walking along the side of the road, one of them shouted to his mates "oh my God its a Ferrari".
It wasn't a Ferrari, it was a Porsche!!
Motto of the story clear lol.
-

Yeah, but it is the same people repeating the same thing. I guess putting down the new car makes them feel better. It is a bit childish to go on and on about it.
-
Hmmm, this seems to have become an argument about wheels....
I'll be honest, I really like them, and as the owner of the car I guess that is what matters.
-
Yep, that is all that really counts. The alloys look really good with Tungsten Silver too.
I doubt if you will ever meet anyone that does not like the 'new GTI alloys.'
There are just a few haters on here.
My cousin has bought a Mk7 Golf R. My mum told him that I had a new Golf too. When he asked which Golf, mum said, "a red one."
-
A few 'haters'!! How old are you, 10!! It's not a case of hating anything or anyone and just because you like them doesn't mean that everyone else should. It's not putting the OP car down either it's someone's personal opinion. And yes you probably will meet people who dislike the Parker wheels!
-
Chill out there people.
@DazAuto, to be fair I think mcmaddy has only mentioned it two or three times.
@Chris, i dont think Daz Auto was meaning you when he said about people repeatedly saying they didn't like them.
-
People express an opinion. It shouldn't be taken personally. We all have different tastes, preferences, budget restrictions on pricey factory options, etc so if you're happy with your Parker wheels that's all that really matters.

+1. I was about to respond along the same lines but you've saved me the trouble.
-
Anyone notice the subtle differences on the front and rear bumpers between the 7/7.5?

Yes and I don't like them either!
Sorry couldn't resist 😂😂
-
Well the front bumpers are very different - the scoops / area around the foglights (or intakes on the R) are all changed.
The rear bumper changes are much more subtle. It has a couple of angular lines around the number plate area that weren't there before.
I noticed that they've definitely improved the GTD's rear skirt. It used to be very tame, like the one on a regular diesel. But now its like that on the GTI (albeit with only one exhaust cut out)
-
I've noticed different colours on the FL make the new front either look nice or weird. White seems to look good due to the contrast between it and the black trim.

I understand that a few people don't like certain alloys.
What I do not understand is why the same people feel the need to criticise the alloys everytime someone post a picture of their new car. Which sadly appears to be the case. It is childish.

I find them that offensive to the eye that I can't help myself commenting on them, but I promise to try and follow the old 'if you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all' motto in future :lipsrsealed:

So this is aimed at me then? Do I care, not a jot. If everyone had the same opinion then we may as well not get out of bed on a morning. I don't particularly like them but you do. Hey ho, the earth still rotates and the sun comes up in the morning, who cares.

Agreed, some people don't like change and am sure would still like 15" BBS wheels on their GTI!
I saw a comment some time ago by someone saying look at them, they aren't even asymmetric but neither are the Austins and in the next sentence said how much they love the Austins!
Tungsten looks good for the GTI
-
I'm obviously biased but yes Tungsten is a very good colour for the gti

My opinion is that Tungsten Silver is quite a dull colour. It looks brown when it is cloudy. When it is sunny it looks like tarnished silver that needs a good clean. I think it should be renamed Retiree Silver as it is a colour that only an old person would like. It is a horrendous, terrible, horrible, awful, hideous colour. Anyone who likes it needs their eyes tested. Just my opinion!

Edit: the above is not actually my opinion of the colour. Sadly, people don't seem to care that what they post here can be disrespectful and offensive.

Nope. I've owned a lot of performance Golfs in the last 15 years so I'm not just saying it for the sake of it or to wind anyone up.
IMO, the GTI wheels have gotten uglier in each iteration since the MK6. The original Monzas, fitted to the MK5 GTI are a design classic, instantly recognisable as a GTI wheel in the same way a 15" BBS is recognisable as a MK2 wheel. Just look at how often the Monzas have been copied and how many poor replicas of them there are out there. When they first appeared, diamond-cut wheels weren't so common so they did look very special and unique imo.
In every iteration since they've made them a slightly worse looking (I wasn't a huge fan of the Austins either with the asymmetrical axe heads) and now we have the abomination that are the parkers. Somehow I cannot see a big market for replica parkers... which you may say is a good thing I suppose.
On the Clubsport, I wish they'd fitted a more special / classic wheel, such as what was on the Edition 30. The 18's are OK but the 19" Brescia option is now available on a GTD... so its hardly "special".
-
"Replica Parkers" lol. Now that's a plan that won't get off the ground!!!
-
This review mentions the alloy at 1m55sec - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gRfxc5Tmj1w (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gRfxc5Tmj1w)

If I didn't know any different I'd think you were a petulant child! Nothing that's been said is disrespectful or offensive towards any person. The conversation has been about the Parker wheels which some people like and some people don't. It's a bit like the Cadiz on the R, done people like some people don't.
-
Exactly. If I had a quid for every time I've read on these forums and elsewhere that the R is boring, it looks like a diesel bluemotion, blah blah blah, I'd be very rich - I'd have the R well paid for anyway
People have different opinions. Many of us legitimately like or don't like certain things whether it be colours/wheels/seats - whatever. My local dealers have a "Black Rubin" (Barney the dinosaur purple!) FL GTI spec'd up to the hilt outside their showroom. I bet they'll eventually find someone who loves it though. We're all different. Thankfully.
-

I own a 7.5, and I have to agree. I strongly dislike the Parkers, it's the worst thing about my car IMO. Makes it look even more 'chav'.

Colour blind maybe??

That's the way I was brought up, "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing!"
I have decided to do the same thing about one of the new colours. I have already made too many negative comments about it. It is difficult when others are so gushing in their opinions. However, I certainly do not mean to be rude about someone's new car. Though my comments could be taken that way. A man of my age should know better.

Nothing wrong in expressing your opinion Daz Auto. Yours is no less valid than anyone elses. 👍👍

I never said it was wrong to express an opinion. I think you are missing my point. :undecided:
Do you think it ok for me express a critical negative opinion of a colour I really do not like every time I see it shown on here???
Is that acceptable behaviour on this forum?

Errr yeah, I think it is.
-
Why not it's your opinion. If anyone takes the hump then they need to grow a thicker skin. Not everyone likes the same things.
-
I have to agree. You can't afford to be sensitive on a public forum.
-
@Daz no i don't think its necessary to express your opinion everytime you see a colour. Not trying to sensor, but the fact you wrote that line makes me thing you may have doubts yourself. Not much point in it, and we don't need to read it every time.
Not everyone like the same things but to comment everytime you see a thread about a colour would be weird, but post count is king on some forums i guess.
Some will think everyone want to know their opinion but frankly we don't, not exclusively this forum but all of them.
no one gives a sh!t...
just my opinion, which apparently is free to give on a forum :)
-
So what is the difference between 'expressing my opinion' of White Silver Metallic, and 'forcing my opinion on others'?
-
Expressing your opinion is what everyone does on forums, posting it in every topic to do with the paint colour, or other, is being a dick, to put it bluntly
Does it need more of an explanation?
-
This was mine, i think the quality is not to compare to aftermarket. But i wanted something else. Therefore i got my Alutec from the start.. :)

Strange as it may seem, I quite like them when they're not on the car
