Title: Wheel spacers help
Post by: buddfridge on 03 November 2016, 11:01
So I am loving the gti but I now want to address the pulled in wheels, I have found lots of photos and reviews by American owners who are fitting the flush kit to their cars…20mm back ….15mm front.

Most of the pictures and reviews have the Austin 18” wheels but I have the Santiago 19” my first question is are they the same width and my next question is I cant find a full flush kit but I am thinking of 20mm and 15mm any ideas on buying these and which ones to go for or avoid.

It’s only a small mod but I would like to get this right so your thoughts are very welcome.

I think the Santis' are the same width, 225 I believe.
I personally would stick with 16mm on the rear but you could maybe go a little bigger with no adverse affect.
On the front's I think you would really feel 15's through the steering. I went with 13 and it took a few weeks to get comfortable with the extra drag on the steering.
As regards brands, I bought Sparco and think they are brilliant and very affordable considering their quality.

Tyres might be the same but wheel width and offset could be different.

I have 20mm spacers on the rear with my santiagos and no rubbing or issues. 12mm on the front and they do rub slightly as I need to do the fender bolt mod.

Spacers are H&R Traks

I'd say 10mm front and either 15mm or 20mm at the rear depending on the look you're going for.

Exonian put me on to these.
They sent me 13mm fronts instead of the 12mm advertised but I'm not complaining
Excellent people to deal with and quick delivery from Italy.

Cheers, I'm driving down that way saturday like, yeah VWR springs - great ride with them, handling improved a little bit as well - although i'm itching to switch to coilovers...

Also spacers were ordered from DPM Performance - good service and fast delivery.

No worries ul not be disappointed like I said the company I got them from in Tamworth supplies in black adonised finish I think they blend better with the santis over the silver because the hub is going to change colour as my wife's scirocco has iv painted them black same as the callipers no doubt in time the gti will get the same hub treatment lol

Hi yeah you've  misread it lol its the wife's scirocco callipers and hubs iv painted black as the Gti has red ones and we wouldn't want to spoil that effect lol.
The spacers are black adonised or the silver if that's what you're after I just wanted the spacers not to stand out against the black santi's
