Although Ive been reading this forum for a while I haven't posted yet. I have been impressed by the knowledge you guys have about every aspect of your cars.
I got a new GTD back in September 2014 and after about 6 months noticed a blister in the paint work on the drivers door despite going to the VW dealer I bought it from they said it was a stone chip and refused to do anything about it. I took it to two independent body shops who both told me it was a "warranty job" after considerable arguing with the VW dealer they said they would do it as a "goodwill gesture" however when trying to get it booked in to be fixed they again tried to get me to pay. I eventually gave up and got it done independently paying for it myself.
The car is by far the best I have had but between this and problems with my other half's polo I will not be buying another VW. Not due to the cars but the way the dealers and VW UK treat customers with contempt.
I think I have attached photos (not easy for a computer illiterate like me) taken of the "blister" and by the spray painter when he was fixing it.
Back to my post heading do you think i should be worried that I will have a two tone RUST and WHITE car in a few years? I do intend to keep the car for many years as I said it is a really good car and I do enjoy driving it.

Yes I can see them now and stone chip my fragrant arse. That looks to me like warranty work.

Completely agree with you regarding dealers. Have owned a BMW before and the way their dealers treat is you is light-years ahead of vw. Much prefer my gti to my 3 series but the dealers at vw remind me of something from the eighties-a boy's club who question everything and just don't get customer service.

No way is that from a stone chip! Another member on here had a blister on their lower sill and that was sorted under warranty. It was p3asa (Stevie) if I recall. He may have some advice for you.

Dealers attitude is variable and you should have stuck to your guns and asked another dealer, before taking it up with head office at Milton Keynes. No way was that a stone chip and I only looked at the first photo! Why the dealer would not sort it properly I have no idea - it's not as though he would have ended out of pocket. Worst that could happen is that they had to justify action with MK. Not hard, given your photos.
I understand your feelings, but they are not all as bad as your dealer. Who was it, again?

Yeah it was myself Bec with the GTD. Its a bit different to dfsGTD's though as I noticed mine after its first wash.
Even although I got the car from Gillingham I took it to my local Arnold Clark (spit) and they took pictures of it and sent them to head office. Who agreed it was a paint defect.
@dfsGTD as others have said there is no way that is a stone chip. A stone chip would have broken the surface of the paint not created a swelling underneath it. Its a bit late now but I would have held out until you got a result. If your local VW dealer wasn't playing ball you should have taken it elsewhere. But I can't understand why they didn't at least contact head office as that would have had to be given the ok from them for your dealer to get paid from VW.

States "Three-Year Paint warranty
All Volkswagen passenger cars are provided with a warranty for a period of 3 years from the date of first registration against any manufacturing defects with the paintwork.
The only preconditions are:
The defect must be reported to a member of the Volkswagen Authorised Repairer network as soon as it is discovered. This must of course be within the warranty period.
The defect must not be due to external influences such as accident damage, climatic, thermal, chemical or industrial pollution, insufficient care or maintenance. This will be determined by the member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network at the time of inspection.
Body protection warranty
All current Volkswagen vehicles are fully protected during manufacture against through corrosion for 12 years from the date of first registration.
Hopefully you got it repaired by a VW approved bodyshop or you may run into problems further down the line if anything starts to come through the paintwork or you try to make another claim.

Thanks for putting the pictures up (took me ages NOT to manage it)
As you have said I should have stuck to my guns and got them to do it but I got really frustrated and it was spoiing my enjoyment of the car so I played into their hands and got it done. Apparently they had submitted a report to VW UK and it was them that refused the work.
I have to say an e mail to Germany did get a response from the head of customer care UK he seemed really upset and became almost insulting towards me.
No names but the dealer has their paint shop in Inverness where they took the car to be inspected. To be honest l have been dealing with them for about 25 years buying many cars some new some not so new and their service has been good. The buying of the GTD was good and it was delivered when promised and well presented unfortunately after that i hit the "brick wall" that is VW after sales service.
Thanks for your thoughts and advice

That looks like an air pistol/rifle hit at close range.
My old Mazda 3 was in for a warranty paint job at only 1 year old.Bodyshop manager took pics and said 'not enough paint on the panel'.
