Well, just ordered my third today. Lookers on Teesside with a decent deal through carwow.Gti performance pack etc. Delivery early October . The other two were Mk2's one red three door one metallic grey five door. Both from new ;red one was a C registration 1985 . Blimey thirty years ago ! I imagine many on here have had loads more than that but just how many and over how many years ?
-
I'm on my third now too.
1. 2006 Mk5 Gti bought 2009. Kept for 3yrs.
2. 2009 Mk6 Gti bought 2012. Kept for 3yrs.
3. 2015 Mk7 Gti picked up end of May. Had for nearly 2 months now.
Unfortunately I think I want an R now
-
Had a Mk4 2 litre GTI, wasn't brilliant
A Mk5 GTI DSG which I loved! Sold that to go travelling and needed a run around for when I got back so bought a Mk 4 V5, that was great but kept on breaking down.
Delivery of my Mk7 should be this Friday!
-

2005 Mk5 GTi manual - bought new, kept 3 years

And five TDI's

You remind me of my dad asking me is it worth ticking the launch control option/sport chrono option when he was 76 when he order his 997 C2S. There are some fast pensioner out there!
I only own one GTI which is the MK6. I think I will stick with the R in the future as I really like the extra security of the 4wd esp during the wet months!

Ha ha fair play to you. Hope I'm still driving nice wheels when I reach that age... A Mk14 GTI maybe :D

Guess I'm the baby owner in the forum as this is my first GTI  and I'm loving it.
2014 MKVII GTI PP

This is my first one - a Mk7 GTI. Always wanted to own one, and what a cracking all rounder it is! I've had a fair few VW's in my time, Mk 4's and Mk 5's and a Scirocco, but this is the best by a mile. The Mk7 MQB chassis is so well sorted.
-
Mk1,2,3,6 mk5 GT and soon to be MK7 R. Also in the mix owned a mk3 scirocco.

Just this one.
I had a Mk3 VR6 in 1993 - it was utter rubbish!

2 for me. A 55' MK5 GTI Manual. Basic car with no options but I loved it. Now a MK7 GTI DSG with a few toys. Love this one too but I fear with the need for a bigger car it may well be the last unfortunately.
-

They are brilliant. Just the right balance between old skool interaction and a reasonable level of comfort and practicality. I often wonder what youngsters brought up on modern, cosseting, high tech cars would make of our relatively slow, underbraked and sometimes unreliable little cars.

First GTD for me,
Some VW History -
1991 VW Vanagon 2.1 Carat (US) Import - loved this dearly - but it's an old VW Bus 'nuff said.
2012 VW California Beach - Dealer Demo - still miss her
Some kind of basic Polo I hired whilst waiting for the GTD - one word - awful
And VW GTD delivered last October - it's an awesome car, in ideal world I would have liked the GTE to be less of a emperors new clothes car or the E Golf to come without range anxiety - but that's for the future I guess.
My Dad had many interesting cars growing up, Lotus Elan 2+2 JPS Edtion, P Plate Scimitar with Ford 3.0 V6, Alfa Sud, Black Audi Coupe and for a while a VW Scirocco Mk1 - Silver on a V plate - just the GLS trim, not a storm or GTI, just had a 1.5 engine from a Golf and a Golf interior, very quick for it's time.

Two for me - a 2002 mk4 GT TDI 130 3 door with the sport pack to give 16" wheels and sports suspension like the 150 had, in bright red, bought as a dealer stock car..... and a 2014 mk7 GTi PP 3 dr with nav and winter pack, in tornado red, bought as a dealer stock car.....
There is a theme - the other theme is neither was / will be kept long, not because of anything to do with the car but because circumstances change and I needed something different.

-
Four so far. That number will probably increase though...
-
Er none.
But
Mk5 140 GT TDI
Mk6 GTD
Mk7 R......
