All being well (no Emden hold ups) it takes 4 weeks from start of build to delivery to dealer.

so you think 1 week roughly to build and 3 weeks transportation ?

Thereabouts.  Build only takes a couple of days.  This might be of use to you (from no.4 onwards):

1: processing order - as it sounds.

2: with the factory - parts are being ordered and are awaiting supply dates

3: BW confirmed - all parts are at factory and they've confirmed a date for build.

4: Build in progress - as it sounds, although very often skipped on the tracker as actual build is only a couple of days. States is takes 4 weeks from start of build to delivery.

5a: in transit:left the factory - on it's way to Emden.

5b: in transit:shipping - at Emden waiting a boat. Normally received 48 hours after 5a.

5c: in transit:nearly here - on boat to either Grimsby, Tyne or Sheerness depending on dealer location.  At this stage VW can give you the name of the boat, but it sometimes skips this stage.  Now states 10 days to dealer.

6. Arrived in the UK - as stated, takes up to 10 days apparently, although they try and do it within 7.

7. At dealer - just needs PDI and valet and is ready for you.

ah wow perfect just what I need, thank you. Was asking because I want my car to be delivered to me on the 2nd September, so in theory going by what you have said it should be hear by wc 24/8 and than hopefully a week to get it ready and delivered to me.

There was someone on here that had their car at the dealers within 10 days from the start of their build week.
Highly unusual but if circumstances are right, it could make the train to Emden then make the boat to the UK within a few days.

All very helpful. I ordered my GTI on 19 June. Tracker unsurprisingly tells me its with the factory.

It's standard spec, so I wonder if that will cut a few weeks out of the equation until build week.

I'm so sad.I watched a video on Youtube of the Wolfsburg manufacturing process for the Golf. All those robots, almost military precision!.
Then the massive trainloads of them trundling out of the factory.
Do all UK bound GTI's/GTD's come from Wolfsburg?.I know there's another factory in the former East Germany.

Good to know it's coming from it's spiritual homeland.I sometimes have my doubts about VW's made outside of Germany.

I would forget those doubts. My 2 Portuguese built Sciroccos were by far the most reliable VWs I have owned - one required no warranty work and the other had minor DCC related issues (sensor replacement).

I've watched the build process on Youtube too. Awesome precision. Might try to take it back to Wolfsburg on a blast through France and Germany next year
