My current wash mitt has now developed a couple of holes.
What's are people using and recommending?
Thanks
-
Hi Peter
I'm a convert to the WoWo lambswool mitt. I have both the thumbed one and the non thumbed version, and both are excellent. Very lightweight compared to other similar mitts and dry very quickly, which is important for the longevity of the mitt. Hand wash them as you would a cashmere sweater to keep them in top condition and increase lifespan. They come with a mesh drying bag which is a really useful. I think WoWo are still doing 20% discount at the moment, see the thread at the top of this section for the code.
If you're having trouble sleeping you could always read my early review of the mitt, which is still going strong.

Other than these, Dodo Juice Tribble mitt is very good, or if you like a long haired mitt, then the DJ Wookie's Fist of Yeti mitt, though they do get very heavy when soaked.
-
Thanks Bec for the shout out!
Yes the 20% forum discount is still going and this available across the whole wowo range, check it out at
Www.wo-wo.co.uk
Thanks for looking!

I'll second that recommendation for the wo-wo. Used mine for the first time yesterday and it was excellent. I actually ordered a 2nd one to give to my brother but I kept it for myself  The addition of the mesh drying bag is a really good feature too.
-
Thanks Bex and mcmaddy,
That will do for me, I will get on the website and get one ordered.
-
Without it sounding like a sales pitch it might be worth including a twin layer drying towel too, especially with the GTIFORUM20 20% discount code!!
Thanks for the feedback everyone!

If you perfer to use a wash pad then try this: http://dooka.co.uk/dooka-wash-pads or this: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/microfiber-madness-incredipad.html. Both will outlast a mitt.

Neil,
Just looked at the website, following Santa purchasing your wash mitt, and I wanted to add a towel to the collection ready for the arrival of the R, and I cannot see it anywhere, is that correct?
Regards
Neil

Forget that, just found it

Found it but cannot order it, does that mean it's out of stock?
-
Can't rate the Dooka wash pad highly enough!! Literally they best i have used so far, got 2 of them now.
-
I like the look of the dooka, what size are you using?
-
Those wash pads look like they would be easier to accidentally drop on the floor, unlike a mitt that fits around your wrist.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Although that said, I've been testing out a similar small lambswool wheel wash pad (not a Dooka) and it is really good, very effective at cleaning, but being considerably smaller (than you would need for the body of the ca) it fits nicely in the palm of the hand so less chance of dropping it. For the body cleaning I will stick with the safety of a mitt.

Sorted now items ordered

No not at all, we had our stock take this week and counted them so know that's not correct.
Let me look at it tomorrow and I'll drop you an email, if you'd like to PM me your contact details I'll get it sorted.
Thanks

Are Wo-Wo going to be offering a tyre dressing in the future?

Hi Neil,
Collected from post office tonight, drying towel is superb, really plush. Window cloth is great, now need some decent weather
Will keep my eye out for other wo wo products, although no doubt you will post as soon as they become available.

Thanks for the initial feedback Neil. I used one drying towel at the weekend and dried bev's bug and my own car so I think you'll be happy!
Cheers

Great drying towel, very happy with mine, BUT make sure you wash it separately from other stuff as the colour does run. To be fair it does state this on the instructions but I forgot and got some pink clothes :embarrassed:

Yep noted the instructions which is unusual for a bloke
I thought pink was th new black?

Yes but will you be the one washing it
Haha, if it is then I'll be driving a pink R in a few months  Fortunately that wasn't a colour option, not even on the german configurator
-
Yes fair comments, I fell foul of the colour fastness or lack of. I now have largely pink detailing cloths, hence the instruction label.

It's a fair cop, although I might have to after being accused of an affair with a drying towel
I can imagine someone disgracing themselves and painting one in a ridiculous colour
Do like the limestone grey, need to see one in the flesh.

Labels clear enough now, even for a bloke

Thanks, that was an early Monday morning addition to the production process!

Stop stroking it (the drying towel) and go pay your wife some attention
I saw a bog standard golf in limestone grey the other day and it looked very nice, enough to turn my head. Ajmoir's limestone R in mk7 section looks lovely, better than pink

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me
As we speak I have a 'red wash' waiting to go in the machine following Sunday's car cleaning.
Btw Neil, the WoWo micro fibre cloths are very good, for many jobs but particularly for buffing off wax/polish. At first I thought they could do with being of a heavier weight (as you did) but, having used them a few times now I actually think they are better in many respects because they're thinner. Polished up my tail pipes up a treat

Thanks for the feedback Bec, I've felt the same about them for a while. The tighter weave gives better buffing properties it appears.

Ignore - I've just seen the size haha.
-
Have been looking for a new wash mitt since i dropped mine last week - thanks wo-wo just ordered :)
-
Thanks for your order, I'm sure you'll love it!

My new Wo Wo lambswool mitt and drying towel arrived today. They look like pretty decent pieces of kit. Hope the weather holds out for me to give them a test run this w/e!
-
Glad you like the look of them! Fingers crossed for the weather too, my car needs some serious TLC!

Thanks Neil - arrived yesterday. Just waiting on my DAS6 to turn up before i put it to good use :)

Give the Microfibre Madness Incredimitt a chance when you are looking for a new one. Absolutely brilliant.

Prefer lambswool for a wash mitt. More after care required but worth the effort imo.
Slightly off topic, but have you tried the Micro Madness Crazy Pile towel or Summit towel (both edgeless)? Amongst others I use Purple Monster edgeless towels/buffing cloths, but over time they lose their softness, so wondered if the MM retain their sofness with use? By comparison DoDo Juice ones get even softer over time, but aren't edgeless.

Yes, I've had a few of them now for 2-3 years. They are good but I've found them starting to leave some of the 'fluff' on the car so I've resorted to using shorter pile MF's. The ones from waxy box are quite good.

I know what you mean about mitt fluff but have only ever found that happens with very long haired versions which can go a bit fuzzy over time, the fuzz tends to catch around the window seals and wing mirrors in particular.
No such problems with the WoWo mitts though and if you get a chance, I would urge you to give one a try

I was talking about the crazy pile mf towels. I've got more lambs wool mitts than I care to count!!

Haha, sorry, wash mitts on the brain!
Thanks, definitely don't want towel fluff or lint all over the car. Had that issue before and it was a real pain removing the fluff off the inner window felt, which are lint magnets. Even now, years later, some of it still remains!
-
i use the microfibre noodle one from kent:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kent-Q2429-Microfibre-Noodle-Wash/dp/B002PX296S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427139549&sr=8-1&keywords=kent+noodle+wash+mitt
does a pretty decent job

I'm not sure that it has polyamide in it though does it?
-

not sure mate. without sounding funny, why does it need to? what are the advantages of polyamides... i know nothing about the science behind it so i'm genuinely interested.

I know that pain.

It's the polyamide and polyester mix that classifys microfibre, without polyamide then it isn't strictly microfibre. the higher the polyamide content the better the microfibre.
Polyamide helps with the electrostatic characteristics of the cloth, which gives its dirt grabbing properties. By default this also makes the material super absorbent which is why it's used for drying towels etc.
I like MF products but when we did all of our testing, and also used the much more advance R&D workshops of some of the factories the lambs wool out performed MF mitts, but as with all detailing accessories it just sometimes comes down to personal preference.
Other features to consider are longevity, shape, water holding capacity. Personally I've found the wool mitts to last longer, keep their shape better and also hold the water better giving a better allround performance.
Not sure if this helps but hopefully you'll see that some thought has gone into the developement and also the packaging.
Cheers

Interesting read Neil
Horses for courses really. For me microfibre comes into it's own for drying and buffing, and lambswool for washing.

Yeah totally, when you start to look at how many different, lengths, weaves and composition there are with MF its mind blowing!
