Selling my Mk6 Golf and moving up to a Mk7 and am in the process of removing mods and returning car to stock.
Need to remove my rear R LED's and refit the stock halogen ones. I will need to reset byte 18 back to its default so that everything works properly but my VAG cable has gone on the blink  Tried everything but computer/car no longer recognises it.
Is there anyone in the Liverpool (L13) area who could help out for some beer money?
Cheers

Are you sure they need recoding? I thought that all the coding that was done when fitting LED's, turned off the bulb monitoring. If you simply re-fit your original lights, I'm pretty sure that they will work, but won't tell you if a bulb is blown.
-
Hmmm, I was under the impression that they would need to be recode... but I am certainly open to correction. If that is the case then I will give it a try out tomorrow and keep fingers crossed.
Cheers

Well there is a right way and there is a bodgey way ....
just have a look - there is a map from vwaudiforums.co.uk with vcds users. sure someone can recode for you.
unfortunately i'm not headed your way in near future
-
whats mods you got could be interested in some of them
-
would be interested in the rear LEDs if they're up for sale!
-
Itavaltalainen - thanks for the info re:vcds users - had forgotten about the forum. Registered years ago but rarely visited and never knew about the map. Cheers.
Sorry Joelee, the rear LEDs are the last of the mods to come off, the rest has been sold on fleabay.
Gaurav, the rear LED's will be going up for sale at some point. When I am ready to sell them I will put up a post
-
I would also be interested in what the coding is to put the normal tail lights back too. I have a VCDS aswell.

Hi guys just wondering what sort of things you have done to the mk6 with vcds as I'm getting mine done again on Friday as a couple of things haven't worked like the auto lock, flashing rear lights under panic stop and the lock cherp, cheers guys,

Brilliant thanks very much I don't suppose you know what the re coding of the rear camera is do you?
-
Probably activating it when it's been retro-fitted.

Well, finally got the chance to swop out my LED and refit the factory standards. All lights are working with the exception of the inner rear lights (both left and right). Initially they work but after 10 seconds they go out and I get bulb out warning light on dash and message in screen display saying to check left and right rear lights.
Damn!!! So, recoding is needed but car is going on wednesday as dealer has offered to drop of new car and collect old one so not giving me time to get vcds re-coding done.
Now wondering if dealer will take the car and recode the lights themselves??

Of course they will.

Sweet, that will solve that problem

Late to the party here but all the dealer will have to do is set everything back to factory standard for your chassis.
When my first mk6 GTI went back in p/x I took the LED tails off but couldn't remember the VCDS settings, thankfully the normal bulbs worked ok still but the lights other than brake lights were just a tiny bit dimmer than they were before.
So off the car went and it's probably still running around now with mildly dim rear lights! Not to mention a 'switched out' REVO map…
-
LOL, just been outside in the dark to look at the tail lights and mine are definitely dimmer than what they should be. Brake lights are fine and the car is going to be collected in the morning time so they shouldn't have any problems.
I'll email the dealer on the day it's collected and say, "By the way...."
Mk7 GTI in CSG with PP to look forward to now

You won't regret the replacement car!
(unless you look at the PCP and lease costs of an R!!!!)
-
Yeah, was seriously considering the R and after many, many hours of deliberation I decided on the GTI as I believe they are going to be the rarer car out there.
The R from the rear looks great, love those quad exhausts but it is very understated from the front, looks too much like a plain golf and most importantly where I live it would probably be gone in 60 seconds!!!
