Earlier today I was giving the car the full beans up the slip road to join the motorway, when all of a sudden the power dropped off & the car when into safe mode , then I had acc warning light followed by epc light which stay on for 5mins then went off , after which the gti was normal again, at first I thought the divertor valve had blown after having the car revoed recently or maybe because I didn't let the car get to temperature first., has anybody else had this.
-
Nope not had that ever happen even with full beans on my Revo'd GTI. Always let it get up to atleast 90 degrees oil temp first though.
I did however get pulled over by Police for doing 75 in a 70 zone.

It's strange one, but car running fine now , I hope you didn't get a ticket what happened to the 70+ 10% rule.

I've noticed that second gear feels a little weird after the map and the car doesn't seem to like pulling hard in that gear. I even get a strange engine sound high revs in that gear but I'm not sure if it's the sound actuator playing up, quite possibly. I don't know why the car would struggle with the torque increase if APR GTI's are doing fine though. What gear were you in when it went into limp mode?
No, I just got a warning thankfully. Yeah I thought the same thing...
-
I know what you mean about 2nd gear, but I think it's more down all the aids kicking in & throttling the power, because when I have tc turn off the car goes like a scorched cat.

Sorry forgot to mention, when the car went into limp mode , I was red line 1st-2nd 3rd as soon as i went into 4th the power dropped off,by the time I had come off the next junction the etc light went off & the power resumed , I then headed for a well known b-road just to make sure all was well with the car , I must say all of this has got me thinking to maybe getting an R if I had blown something serious it's at my own cost, because without doubt it will be TD1 flagged.

personally i'd speak to Revo HQ technical guys about this and see what they say
is your car manual or dsg
-
It's a strange one as the GTI should be more than capable to handle the power & torque. APR were thrashing their GTI around the track so much that the paint on the calipers practically melted! They had the intake too.

I think if it happens again I probably will speak to them, I'm hoping it's just a one off, possibly because the car wasn't up to temp , also the car is dsg.
