I have 2 questions about the upgrade I am thinking of doing on my AGU which currently has a 007, air filter and map.
Before anybody says... I have read pretty much every thread on every forum :nerd:
However, a lot of them are old and want to make sure that I am getting right stuff as people might have found out that certain things are not as good to use as others.
So my questions are:
1) How much would it cost (roughly) to do it all sourcing pretty much all used parts and then a map?
2) Am I missing anything from the list below (still possibly a little confused after reading threads) or any special specific recommendations?
02x turbo with water and oil lines and gaskets
fmic with 2.5" piping?
k04 manifold
3" downpipe/decat or 3" turbo back exhaust
k04 TIP
4 bar fpr
fuel pump from tt
injectors (from 225 cupra/tt/s3?)
MAF from tt or vr6?
Thanks in advance!

My advice, get a K280 or k300 from Beach Buggy Turbos instead.
You'll see more power than a KO4 but with a lot less work because you can keep your existing manifold.
You won't need a 4bar fpr, but the rest of your list looks ok.
-
Would that not be more expensive?
Can pick up an s3 k04 pretty cheap these days
-
Also just looked on their website and nothing on there. Dont seem like a proper company thats still going
-
They must be updating their website, all their turbos were there the other day. Message them on FB, but they are definitely still trading.
IIRC it's about £600 for a hybrid with uprated actuator, when you factor in the cost of a KO4/manifold/downpipe (KO4 DP's are expensive) it's probably pretty comparable and you will see a reliable 280bhp.
-
Will have a look into it cheers. So with hybrid you would still get all of the above except 4bar and mani?
Also dont they use Chinese turbos?
-
He sources parts from China and builds them himself. No failures AFAIK
-
Beachbuggy turbos have a good reputation as far as I have seen I'm going to be upgrading to their k280 this year it will bolt straight in place of the ko3 no need for new oil and water lines or manifold or downpipe but you will probably want a 3" down pipe for decent gains

I just had a Beachbuggy K250 turbo fitted today with a ported manifold and R-tech supersize tip and it sounds like a rally car's turbo! LOL The sound is awesome!
I Definitely recommend a Beechbuggy turbo over a K04. He tests his turbos too

Where did you get the k250? Cant find anything online?
-
So if I wanted a Beachbuggy turbo for my AUM ko3s, it's a straight swap over?
-
The k280 and k300 uses a k04 compressor housing and so the tip from the k03/k03s won't fit. The k250 is a k03/k03s compressor housing so you can use the same tip.
Still putting a k300 through its paces on my golf and it's still running reliably.
-
Rock monkey what tip did you use for the k300?

BBT also sell a supersize TIP that is ideal for the K300
-
whats a K250 good for in power?
-
erm, 250?

I bought my tip from beachbuggy turbo.
Very pleased with the fitment and ease of install, but I'm glad I don't have any emissions to plumb in or heater matrix pipes to contend with.

Give him a call and see what he has got, or can advise you on. He is a really helpful and knowledgeable chap!

whats a K250 good for in power?
BBT told me it had been tested up to 260bhp and when there was a picture and info about one on his site it said tested up to 262bhp.

Cheers for that! Also read that the k300 is an engine out job. Surely not? Presume it can be fitted on jacks?

250bhp, hence the name.
K280 = 280bhp
K300 = 300bhp (easily)

It might be tested to that but it's not mapped to that for obvious reasons. R-tech and badger5 agree that on the k300 for example should be mapped to boost ~1 bar and it more often than not makes the power unless the vehicle is in need of more mods or troubleshooting. They will not increase the boost above the 1 bar without Egt sensor to go on.
I managed to fit my k300 on the drive, didn't have to take my engine out...

It did involve going under the car
-
You definitely need to get under the car to get the downpipe off
-
Got ya lads.
