HI, COULD SOMEONE TELL ME WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REMAP AND A SUPER CHIP, WHICH SHOULD I GO FOR? I HAVE A MK 4 2 LTR GTI, THANKS NICK.
-
go for the remap but with being a non turbo the gains are minimal
-
THANKS BARRY, IS IT A WASTE OF MONEY THEN?

not a waste of money but me personally i would sell the 2.0 an use the map money and what you get for the 2.0 and buy a 1.8t could even find 1 already mapped

It will fell better. I super chipped my old ford xr2i and it made 118bhp on a dyno with the timing 3 degrees out ,i must of spent £1000s on upgrades. Ill never forget it loved that car. RIP

Neither will give you massive gains, but a remap would be the best option. You won't see any real gain in peak power but you should feel better throttle response.
In my opinion it's really not worth the cost, the 2.0 is a pretty poor engine and I wouldn't want to waste any money on it.

Never worth the bother on a 2.0, save your money

VW Golf 2.0 8v before - 115 hp after - 122 hp before - 170 nm after - 180 nm

the 2.0 will never be exciting, Sell it and buy a 1.8 or 1.8t both in standard form will be far quicker than the 2.0
I loved my 2.0 as it was very smooth, but boring as hell.
A remapped 1.8t is very exciting for while and will keep you entertained until the need for more starts kicking in.
