Title: 1.8t engine in 4motion ??
Post by: rfn_hodgson on 09 October 2013, 21:58
hello fellas im seriously considering buying a v5 or v6 and dropping a AGU block in there...
reason behind this is because i want as much traction as i can get and 2 wheel doesnt seem to be enough in my appinion beyond 230-250bhp but thats just me.... and would be a nice project :)

sooo...my theory behind this is that i would need the gear box from the audi tt quattro or equivalent and AGU block and the ancillaries and a good mapper

would i need things like the sub frame and drive shafts from the tt as well??

or does any one know of someone who has done this before?

once again thank you for any sarcastic comments and genuine replies and just generally putting up with my ideas  :D

This is something I'd like to do as well, start with a v6 and swap engine and box etc.

Subframe should be fine to keep though.

Pm a guy called yohan. He had a 4motion 1.8t bora so could probably offer some decent advice. From what I can remember from his threads etc it was s3 running gear on his. Sounds like a cool project either way man.

There's a build thread on here somewhere from someone who I believe worked for Rtech who had a 4mo 1.8t mk4.

Think his username on a different forum was IbanezDan or similar..

Wes will probably be able to find you the thread.

He used an S3 engine and gearbox I think.

I know who your on about. Black mk4, looked awesome. He bought a v6 4mo shell and transfered everything over from a damaged s3

if I had the spare money and room to take on a project like this, it would be the first thing I would be doing.
OR, buy an r32 and get a HGP turbo kit fitted.

I'm just a bit bored of it tbh, I'll probably keep the Mk4 until next summer then put it up for sale. It probably doesn't help that it needs 4 tyres, wheels refurbed, front bumper and boot resprayed to get it looking half decent...that's the best part of another £1k to spend on it :undecided:
