So I'm confirmed Build Week 41 - Anyone else on here in the same week?
-
Yip me too. It can't come soon enough
-
Me too.
-
Another 41'er here.
Not that I'm holding my breath!
-
Tracker still showing as B/W Confirmed, but looking at other threads this is pretty common and we wont see "Build in progress" until Next Sunday (stock 7 day tick over), but the cars 'should' be fully built and ready to ship as of next weekend.
-
Your build week starts from today so you won't see an update till your car starts getting built. Keep an eye on the tracker though... A few BW40 people have had updates prior to the auto roll over which occurs in Sunday so hopefully it will be the same for some BW41ers
-
Just for interest sake if you ask the dealer for an update and they check on the actual VW system they will be able to give you the exact build day. Mine is day 4 of bw 41.
-
Still at 'Build Week Confirmed' anyone updated to 'Build In Progress' yet?
-
Not yet...
-
In theory mine will be started tomorrow. Will pop the dealer an email tomorrow afternoon and see if there is any progress.
-
Fair - my dealer seems to be ignoring me which is extremely frustrating!
-
Mine is supposed to be finished by Friday. Apparently the dealer received the navigation sd-card today, so fingers crossed...
-
Sounds promising! Are you build in progress on the tracker now?
Still no movement on mine and no reply from the dealer. Getting annoyed now!
-
Remember bw 41 only ends on Sunday... So they still have time. Checked with my dealer today still scheduled
-
My BW 37 car didn't acutally go into build on the tracker until the Sunday. It stayed in build for a whole week.
-
Just called VW Customer Services and apparently they "can't get hold of anyone in the department" to say what's happening with my car ! Lovely :/
-
Yay! Went from 'Build Week Confirmed' straight to 'In Transit' overnight! So skipped 'Build In Progress....' !!
How are the other BW 41ers cars progressing?
-
Congratulations! Mine's still in the parts bin.
-
Hmm - not good - what's your dealer saying?
-
On holiday - hopefully back on Monday. I'm not panicking yet...
-
Step 3 - build week confirmed. Nice one........
-
Moved to Build in Progress this morning.
-
I believe that the natural 7 day automatic tick over to 'Build in Progress' after your B/W is due to start.
Worth checking with your dealer and/or VW Customer Service first thing in the morning chief.
-
I'll do that, thanks.
-
Still a good sign though. I think there are some people who haven't even had the auto roll over happen!
-
Ahh build in progress for me now. In transit would have been nicer though.
-
Apparently a delay for me owing to shortage of parts. Apologies from VW and vouchers are on the way. I'm hoping for iTunes vouchers, or failing that something I can spend at M&S

Well I'm BW39 and still have no car - still being built apparently
No apology, no vouchers, no nothing!
I'm suprised

I guess it depends on how much the dealer is prepared to push. Mine admitted he has several orders running late.

I see your East Midlands - I'm Derby and ordered from Stoke VW
Is it your dealer pushing VW - or yourself?
-
My dealer. I queried why my GTD was still at Build in Progress a week later than quoted, and he replied back today, presumably after contacting VW.
-
Ohhh, mines finally in a Transit...
-
Mine's in transit this morning.
-
Dealer got my car yesterday. So with some luck I can pick it up later today.
-

I didn't realise Transit vans were that large.

You were Build Week 41 and car is already at dealer? WOW that was quick!
I've gone down to '3 weeks' this morning.
What do each of the weekly stages mean? Does this now mean it's on a ship?
-

Me neither but it says so on the website! Maybe it comes flat packed?!!
-

Yea, it moved on rather quickly (finally). Picked it up today and what a car... Have to take it slow so I don't rip out the studs from the tires (stupid new studded tires...).
-
Means that your car went from build to arriving at your dealer within 1 week? Are you certain it was built during B/W 41? :D

Delivered by Chinook?

Well, I only got what the dealer have told me. We don't get the fancy online tracker in Sweden. It is possible if the car timed the boat leaving for Södertälje. The car arrived in Södertälje port Thursday and at the dealer Friday and I picked it up the same day.
-
My car is in production :-) Checkpoint 5 at the moment and it has a VIN number
-
Nice. Apparently mine's at emden port. Who knows how long for.
-
Ditto, spoke to dealership yesterday and they had the chassis number and confirmed it was at Emdem Port. Not long to go.....hopefully :undecided:

Haha it could be ages. I think mine will come in the Port of Tyne. What about yourself?
-
Not a clue and tbh not bothered providing it gets to Chesterfield VW and then Wigan safely

They don't normally hang around Emden for long if they're going to Tyne. North East dealers generally get delivery within 4 working days ofarriving at Tyne too. If it's at Emden and headed for Tyne you're probably about 10 days from ownership.

Hey MH, do all the Scottish cars go through Tyne?
-
Not sure about all (there may be some exceptions) but generally Tyne receives English cars from Teesside and up, and Scottish cars. Look for City of Paris, City of Rome and City of Rotterdam ships leaving Emden for Tyne.
-
Cheers, am BW 44 so hopefully at Emden for next weekend or based on the delays December!

Again i hope so mate. I saw the big red gtd on sunday i think; near asda metro centre. I'm going to assume it was you as they're so rare.

Spoke to my dealer today, waiting in Emden for a ship to Grimsby. Once it's in the UK, I should have it within days they have said.
Anyone else with a car being shipped to Grimsby?

Mine will be going to Grimsby.... hopefully end of November or early December providing there are no delays :)
-
Excellent!
Any ideas how I go about this 'ship tracking' lark?
-
Some great info on boat tracking in this thread: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=258683.0
If the tracker says "In transit" blah... 4 weeks.. it's on it's way to Emden...
If the tracker says "In transit" blah... 3 weeks.. it's at Emden waiting for a boat...
If the tracker says "In transit" blah... 10 days.. it's on a boat!
Looking at this - I may be wrong here, but anyone with a car current in Emden that's due to be shipped to Grimsby the relevant ship can be tracked here:-
http://new.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/355444000
The vessel at time of writing it current in Grimsby and due to be in Emden again on Friday. Going on a 2 day turn-around, we should be moving to the UK from Emden again on Sunday/Monday.

Some other ships to keep an eye on are Weser Highway (currently in dock at Emden and due to sail to Grimsby), Neckar Highway (currently on way back from Grimsby to Emden) and Autorunner (seems to call in at Grimsby amongst other stops).
-
Great Info! Thanks Neil_MK!

Great Info! Thanks Neil_MK!
No probs - my BW40 has been at the 'In Transit/3 weeks' stage for the past week, so I've become a bit of a ship spotting nerd :nerd:
-
Mine also, but I was B/W 41. Hoping for some movement in the next few days. However, reading some reports on the forum, some people have had their cars sitting at Emden for over 3 weeks before there is space on a ship! :-(
-
Had a voicemail today from the dealer. My car came into the Port of Tyne at some point today, probably on the City of Amsterdam, so hopefully i should have it soon. Excited.
-
To cut a long story short, Lee (Evo1986) contacted me first thing last Monday to tell me my GTI was in port in the UK and it should have hit the dealer on Friday just gone.
Fingers crossed (and subject to a tree falling on it if the forecast hurricane arrives knowing my luck!!!) it should be ready to pick up first thing Wednesday.
So after months and months of looking forward to it arriving I now need to venture out and start getting my much loved mk6 ready once I get a break in the rain, find the paperwork and start reading up on what I need to know pre-collection.
Not sure whether I feel really happy the new one has arrived or really sad that the old one is going...
-
Mine is still stuck in Emden. :-(
Getting annoyed now!
-
Me - "Still sitting on the dock of the bay"...
-
Where is yours shipping to? We might be on the same boat!
-
This boat has now arrived in Emden from Grimsby - let's hope it's going back again soon with our cars on!

-
Where is yours shipping to? We might be on the same boat!
I'm not sure - car will be going to the dealer in Northampton.
-
Turns out mine could be ready as early as this Thurs, just in time for halloween.
-

Probably Grimsby as well then? That'd be my guess, may be worth a call to the dealer to find out.

Nice one! Jealous!!
Waiting since mid-June, getting fed up now! :-)
-

Maybe i'll be spotting you at Fawdon!

Haha i can imagine. First week in July for me so not too bad.

Haha aye mate. I'll only be working in Gosforth for another couple of weeks or so like.
-
SCHELDE HIGHWAY is now on it's way back to Grimsby - fingers crossed my car is on it!

Update from dealer: "An update for you in that the car is being shipped to the UK currently as far as I can see as it was "released to ship" while I was away. I am just waiting for confirmation that the car has arrived in the UK"
But tracker still showing '3 weeks' whereas other's have updated to 10 days overnight! Hmmm - maybe this means I'll be on next week's ship?
-
Mine updated to 10 days overnight.
-
Your car is going to Grimsby?
That's frustrating, maybe mine is still at the port and won't actually be in the UK until next week.

Same story here.. at least one other BW40 destined for Grimsby changed to 10 days overnight.
All is not lost - Autorunner has just left Emden bound for Sheerness, but usually goes on to Grimsby for a second drop off I believe. Hopefully tracker will show 10 days tomorrow if on board!
-
Thanks Neil - here is hoping!
Dealer seem convinced it's on a ship, but I would presume that 'released to ship' as he's saying is promising.
-
Phew! Collected mine today after an eventful trip. Am I the first UK 41'er?
Thanks to Lee and Chris at Cheltenham VW.
Full report in due course.
-
I believe so!
Mine is still stuck at 3 weeks, so clearly missed the boat!
This is extremely frustrating, even some B/W 42ers have had their cars arrive in the UK!
-
Just got off the phone with VW South Africa. My car is on its way to Emden :-) Now for the long wait for it to get to South Africa.
-
Nice! Long build! Any reason behind it? Parts?
-
Not sure just glad it's on its way
-
Well i should be collecting my GTi tomorrow after ordering early July. Had my current car for 6 years and this will be first new car. Should be quite an experience.
-
Changed overnight to Arrived in the UK.
-
That's great news!
Extremely frustrated through that mine's still stuck in Emden, and even some B/W 42 cars are now in the UK!
-
Seems to be something of a lottery.
-
Got an update from the dealers. My car is on it's way to Bremerhaven to be shipped to SA.
-
Seems to be something of a lottery.
It does indeed, it's extremely frustrating particularly as people who ordered well after me already have their cars! :-(
-
SCHELDE HIGHWAY is now on it's way back to Emden, here is hoping that this means my car will be on it early next week!

Don't forget the Weser Highway currently docked at Emden. According to my dealer mine is due to ship today so I'm presuming mine will be on board.

You sir are a legend and have given me hope of still collecting next weekend!

Thank you!
-
Got a call today. I was meant to be collecting this afternoon but it turns out my car is still in the UK port. I was a little worried how smooth the process was going. This smoothness appears to have been rectified haha.
-
WESER HIGHWAY has just left Emden, fingers crossed the tracker will update to 10 days for me overnight!
Also asked dealer for an update and if my car will be on this ship.
-
Finally at 10 days! Must be on WESER HIGHWAY!
-
Congratulations!
-
At the dealers  Ordered on June 9th - not too bad I suppose.
-
So it finally arrived in the UK, must of been late last week but tracker didn't update until Monday.
Now waiting for a transport to the dealer, so should have it any day now! Finally!!
-

Great news; it's worth the wait.
-
I hope so! Still waiting for it to be 'delivered' to my local dealer. Been at Grimsby for well over a week now. Getting a little fed up to be honest :-(
-
I wonder if "Delivered" only appears when the car has been through PDI and is ready for final payment and collection?
-
Do you mean the finsl step 7 of 7? This updates when your car arrives with the dealer. Not connected to it going through PDI.
-
Heard from the dealer late this PM that a transporter had arrived, with a GTi on... couldn't confirm if it was mine or not as the cars had been locked away for the night!
Fingers crossed as he said it's the only GTi they are expecting.
If so, viewing Monday then collect next Saturday!! (Working away next week).
-
Just checked the Wallenius Wilhelmsen website and my car is on the Morning Concert which left Bremerhaven last night. It stops at Zeebrugge, Le Harve and Southampton and docks in Port Elizabeth on the 2nd of December. It's getting closer :-)
-
Awesome news! Finally collecting mine this Saturday! :-)
-
That's good news. I collect mine tomorrow, so you almost caught up!
-
Confirmed delivery for next Friday....bring it on!
-
My car got off the ship in Port Elizabeth at 5pm this afternoon. The long wait is nearly over
-
So my car is due at the dealers on Tuesday.... only problem is I am in the UK for 3 weeks leaving on Sunday night...
I don't think I have ever been looking forward to a holiday but also wanting it to finish :undecided:
