Title: BW43
Post by: monsta on 23 September 2013, 15:48
Come on then, since there is a BW42 thread and they've just had their dates confirmed - who's down for BW43?

Title: Re: BW43
Post by: monsta on 24 September 2013, 14:16
Just mine getting built that week then! Should mean no delays

Post by: virginVWman on 24 September 2013, 14:33
Ive been advised BW 45, so the quicker your car comes the quicker mine does!!!!!!!!!! Have you had definitive say so that you are BW 43? I was told 45 but this was the best part of 6 weeks ago. Keen to make sure its not fallen further back than promised as I ordered the start of June

Post by: monsta on 24 September 2013, 14:36
My dealer tells me 43 is going to be confirmed this week, judging by how the 42'ers went I'd say this is likely to be the case so I guess in 2 weeks time your's will be confirmed too.

My dealer contacts me around every 1-2 weeks with an update by email. I think he knows I'm impatient.

Post by: virginVWman on 24 September 2013, 15:03
This has been such a long wait...I just hope it's worth it.

What?! That's a joke. The customer service I have received has been nothing short of awful. I wish I was kept informed weekly or fortnightly
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: monsta on 24 September 2013, 15:17
Have you had a test drive? The wait is definitely worth it. This is my 3rd GTI in a row

Post by: mjh_056 on 24 September 2013, 15:26
Mine is lease but they have a tracker and it is updated each week and at 3 weeks it was on target each and every week for stock date and now it has been pushed back 3 weeks due to factory parts issues. Ordered Mid May, with likely receipt now Mid November.
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: monsta on 24 September 2013, 15:33
What did you spec?

I placed an order on 11th August;

Performance Pack
Dynamic Chassis Control
Panoramic Roof
Dynaudio

Originally BW42 but slipped to 43 a little while ago....
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: virginVWman on 24 September 2013, 15:40
No test drive unfortunately. I keep meaning to call the salesman to organise something, but he's annoyed me so much I don't think I could see him without telling him how sh*te he's been. It's the GTD in DBP I've ordered. Can't wait to get it. Brother has a mark 5 GTI and that's a beauty, which has prompted me down the VW route from an avid Audi fanboy. Need to call the salesman do find out if I'm still on track for bw 45

What did you spec?

I placed an order on 11th August;

Performance Pack
Dynamic Chassis Control
Panoramic Roof
Dynaudio

Originally BW42 but slipped to 43 a little while ago....

Pure White GTD 5 Door DSG Discovery Sat Nav Winter Pack Dynamic Chassis Control

So no camera on order - so not sure what part is in short supply at factory, the DCC or DSG maybe?

If mine now stays on track it will be 3 weeks over stock date and 6mths from order to delivery.

Our lease site states that STronic Audi A3 leads times are 16-26 weeks! and given it states the GTD/GTI is 14-16 weeks on same lead time chart which we know is hugely optimistic! then still quite happy did not order the Audi still as be getting that in 2015 sometime.

Sorry...should have given detail..

Ordered 31st July
3- Door
Pure White

DDC
Dynaudio
Keyless
High beam assist
Park Assist

Like I said....unconfirmed....I at least expect a 2 week delay

Thanks

Why always me?.. My dealer has just told me that my car has been put back to unconfirmed BW 46. The only reason i can think why is because its a GTD. I ordered the car on the 18th July... The wait goes on..!

I'm also on order for a GTD but I did place an order the first week in June. I'm just wondering is it worth while. Ole ring a car in November? Not best to wait till January so it's registered in 2014 as apposed to 2013?

I think it may be 5 - 6 weeks as the cars don't seem to be getting built in their confirmed BW at the moment.  Anything sooner that that would be a bonus / a nice surprise.

OK, so what's the next thing we are supposed to moan about?

  • How long it takes to build
  • How long it sits at Emden
  • How long it sits at (insert UK port here)
  • How long it takes to PDI
  • The fact they didn't remove the transport blocks

That you ordered DBP not realising how high maintenance it is?
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: virginVWman on 30 September 2013, 22:40
Out of interest....looking at peoples thoughts here. If we are to get our cars in 5/6 weeks from the build date that means cars will be ready for late november, will anyone actually collect it so late in the year? Id be tempted to ask for them to hold on to it till Jan for it to be registered in 2014 instead of 2013. Surely this would make a difference when you come to sell it, or am i the only one thinking along these lines? Would be damn hard to put collection of another 4 weeks should it come to it
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: dippy_x on 30 September 2013, 23:01
In Jan 2014 the car would still have a 63 plate?  If I was taking delivery in January I would be tempted to hold off till March for the new 14 reg plate.  I'm fine with a Nov delivery though
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: monkeyhanger on 01 October 2013, 00:09
Definitely only worth delaying delivery for imminent new plate. There'll be maybe £250 between Dec 13 and Jan 14 registration come trade in time, but £750 - 1000 between Feb 14 (63) and March 14 (14) due to the impact of the new plate. My p/xed Scirocco slid £850 between Aug and Sept 13, but only approx £230 per month for the preceding 3 months.

Nov availability? Pick it up ASAP, you'll see no advantage in delaying pick up by a month or 2.
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: monsta on 01 October 2013, 10:07
Just had a very positive email about the confirmation of my build week.  November delivery. I wonder if it will be mid-late or earlier.  My money is on later...
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: virginVWman on 01 October 2013, 11:20
Just received a call from VW also, to expect a delivery first two weeks in November. If its not being built till week commencing the 20th October think this is a bit optimistic I'd have said
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: JellyB on 01 October 2013, 14:40
Spoke to my dealer and they said it was possible that I'd get a November delivery but were planning for early to mid December.

(Important for me as my current car tax and insurance expire December and that's when I wanted to collect the new car).

Longest couple of weeks ever, starting now ;)

Found out today that I can't even get a quote for the change in insurance until 30 days prior to the change so I will have to wait another 10 days to do that.. all for just 12 days cover until my new policy starts!

Title: Re: BW43
Post by: monsta on 22 October 2013, 22:42
Yeah I think getting your dealer to give you updates from his VW software - with it's 20 stage progress indicator during build - is going to keep you sane, the tracker is more of a placebo if you ask me.
Title: Re: BW43

Placed order..well I cant even remember exactly but start of July, dealer confirms BW 45 then changed to BW44, dealer told me get ready to receive your my car end of Nov!!!
Called VWUK they went an extra mile checked with factory came back and said your car should be delivered by xmas, told them that date changes and no confirmation on tracker is getting me worried and really feel like cancelling my order as all I keep doing is adding an extra and its getting further away from my original order spec, ive even ordered bits of the ABT kit from Germany ....VWUK will be supplying me with a courtesy car in 2 weeks time until my car arrives which I have been told is very unlikely this year due to Xmas holidays.
The positives:  I have heard that after bw45 the car will have updated software and few different things like folding side mirrors.
Newer reg
driving a free car
Able to get confirmation that my car will have reversing camera.
Negatives: Losing focus and cost has increased, hate driving my car as feel I should be in a GTD!!!!

I really cant see how someone has ordered in Mid August and car is being delivered to them start of Nov....from what VWUK manager  told me and they did take 2 days to get back to me ( so I presuming, they had a good chat with the factory) that they have managed to get my order prioritized: sounds empowering but actually just bulltihs,
and how they just offered me a courtesy vehicle..... I feel the only reason they did all this is because my car is going to be delayed, I can not see them offering me a courtesy car ( I didn't even request 1 nor raise a complaint) if they are expecting my car to be on time or even a week or 2 late.....I just hope I don't get a call from the dealership telling me my car has arrived and there's 6 inchs of snow packed on the roads!!!

I want mine ASAP, hope it arrives in December and that VWUK have allowed BW45 cars to have the new USB / iPod interface when having the Advanced Phone Kit. Currently people who have ordered the Advanced Phone Kit have no MDI, it not been installed because its not part of the UK configuration when adding Phone Kit. Araagh.

the build week is this week, nothing should happen for around 1 more week, then it will begin to progress through the stages of arriving here with me, we will turn the car around in 24 hours for you when it is here.

So looks like it wont change till the middle of next week...grrrrr. cant see it being here for mid nov

Weird isn't it. I think the wide range of build times is them getting everything out as soon as possible rather than stick to a longer/consistent but fairer build time for all.

That's what I hope is happening anyway, it could of course be jus chaos :/

EDIT: Tracker showing build in progress for me now

If your car is going to Tyne then I suspect (like mine, my dad’s and mcmaddy’s) it’ll take no more than 3 days to get between Wolfsburg and Emden (tracker status = 4 weeks), 5 to 7 days to get on a ship (tracker status = 3 weeks), a day to sail from Emden to Tyne (tracker status = 10 days) and 4 or 5 working days to get delivered to your dealer. PDI depends on the dealer – some people seem to be made to wait a week, mine was picked up the day after arrival at dealership, my dad’s was in the dealership all of 3 hours before he drove it away. For a Tyne bound car, 2 to 3 weeks is probably all it will take.

From my dealer this morning....

Quote
We have been informed some Golf’s are running a week to 10 days behind their confirmed build week & unfortunately one seems to be yours. (as I’m sure you have been checking on the VW website)

As soon as I have any news, I’ll let you know.

Still "build in progress"

Cheers mate, I'm very excited now obviously!

My dealer has said it will probably be finished by the end of tomorrow but he'll email me again either today or tomorrow to tell me which stage it's at.

Great guy, thoroughly recommend Caffyns in Brighton!

Post by: virginVWman on 08 November 2013, 12:06
Not a clue...some people on here I believe have been able to look at ships leaving ports but I wouldn't have a clue where to start with this one. I'd like to think it takes 2 days at most to get here then a couple to get to the dealer. The salesman still advises me il have it for the 16th but I really can't see it.
Title: Re: BW43
Post by: JellyB on 10 November 2013, 03:13
Mine is still showing 3 weeks, so I guess its having an extended stay at the port. Also, not heard anything from the dealership of late and you would have thought that with only a few weeks left they would be trying to arrange something..

Will give them a call this week and find out.

Right come on everyone, keep your fingers crossed for me...

The ship "Emden" is bound for Sheerness, due to arrive tomorrow.

If my car is on there, I could be picking it up next weekend.  What makes it even more special is that it's my birthday on the Monday.

The photo on the Marine Traffic site is of the ship in Sydney which is where my sister lives.  Could it be fate?

Cross everything for me please (clutching at straws!)

Was originally pencilled in for 10am collection tomorrow but it hasn't turned up. They have been officially notified that it arrives Monday.  We're hoping for an AM delivery so I can collect last thing Monday otherwise Tuesday 9am.

Hi All, new forum member. Had my GTI for a week now, I was also build week 43. Wish I had found this forum whilst I was waiting for my car as I see a lot of threads that cover the same issues / feelings that I had whilst waiting for the car. Mine was built and shipped over to the UK all within 5 days, then sat at the UK docks for 7! Loving the car now, done about 200miles.
