Just a quick question about the power folding mirrors. My garage is pretty narrow for the GTD with the mirrors unfolded, so just wondering if you can have the mirrors fold via a setting or manually and still be able to drive the car into the garage?
-
You mean you use your garage for putting a car in!!??
I would imagine that there would be a button to manually fold the mirrors? (Like my X-Trail or C-Class before that)
-
There is indeed a button to fold them manually, so no worries
-
I think you use the adjust mirror button to fold them. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You certainly used to be able to twizzle/push (can't remember which) in the nob on the door on the mk 6 to make them go in, I'm sure this same feature will exist on the mk 7.

Yeah exactly the same.

At least your using it right! Most people I know use their garage as a storage facility for junk! (In fact I still have a 1994 MK1 Renault Laguna rear spoiler and steering wheel in my dads garage!
-
I've never understood why people fill their Garage with junk, and leave their car (which costs ten's of thousands in some cases) out exposed to the elements!
-
We moved two months ago and I now have a double garage with an electric garage door and loads of lighting. I will be able to sit in the car without the neighbours peeking at me.

Because single garages are very narrow compared to todays wider cars - makes for a very tight fit if you want the ability to open a door and get out of it. Our garage integrated into the back of our house, off the kitchen, and the back of the house was like an icebox in the winter (especially the bedroom above it). Converted it to a dining room with utility and chill out area (with a Dr Evil style swivelly chair) earlier this year.

That makes sense I guess. I fitted a wider door to mine when it was built due to my mother being an absolutely bollocks driver!

my garage was 2.45m wide internally except at the reinforcing columns flush with the back of the house (front 1/3 of the garage just out beyond the house. Between columns it was 2.25m wide and a Golf is 1.8m wide - 35cm to get out of the car, not including the thickness of the door. getting out of the boot would've been my only option.

I'm quite fortunate in that I have a huge single garage to keep my car in. Before hand when I had my TT and the girlfriend had her cooper s we could fit both cars in length ways. Now that we have both swapped to a GTI and DS3 (god knows why she chose a DS3) we can't get both cars in so hers is living outside which she's not happy about

Did you explain to her that the DS3 is better outside because no one would ever try to steal that P.O.S. bucket on wheels?
-
Hers is better off inside - far more likely to rust!

The neighbours must think we've fallen on hard times moving from a TT and Cooper S to a Golf and Citreon
