Title: Film: Rush - are you going to see it?
Post by: Diamond Hell on 13 September 2013, 12:11
Going tomorrow night.

Been looking forward to it for the best part of a year!

Reviews look very promising, but then Ron Howard's not renowned for turning out shyte.

I would like to see this also. I'm not a huge fan of F1 but the film looks slick and well put together. Plus it has the added bonus of Thor as a main character.

Same here. The days when F1 races were won by sheer driver talent / biggest balls. I was reading that Ron Howard approached Hunt's family about the story line in respect to his character. The family stated that it was important that Hunt's character wasn't sugar coated and that his womanising / flawed traits were accurately portraid.

I look forward to your feedback. Probably go and see it next week.

You should stay at home then.

Counting things or something.

Rocking slightly.

Empire rates it highly.

I remember the story first time round! :lipsrsealed: August the 1st 1976, is one of those days that you can remember exactly where you were at a certain point in time! Sunday afternoon watching the Grand Prix on a portable TV in a caravan, on holiday in Scotland!
Watching Niki Lauda come very close to losing his life when he crashed at Nurbergring, right in front of the camera, was very traumatic... shades of Roger Williamson who died in exactly the same circumstances only 3 years earlier are still haunting to this day, both vids are on You Tube for the inquisitive...

F1 drivers dying on a Sunday afternoon was a regular occurrence, how times have changed!

Yes I'll be going to watch the film

just made me think... if they got something that simple wrong how much of a fcuk didn't they give about the rest of the movie

generally i don't rock... dribble occasionally and start muttering to myself but I find rocking a waste of energy

It's possible that the film hasn't specifically been made as a period documentary, or for the anally retentive?

I took the comment as light hearted?!

Anyway, I watched the movie last night and was very impressed!

Anyone else seen it yet?

or its possible that it has been made as a period documentary with a big budget and i don't give a fcuk about being anally retentive, you should know me by now Thomas, I thrive on the detail :)

It would however be wise to keep such things to yourself for a few weeks until such time as people have had a chance to see said film. There's an idea.

Just been to see it, and it captures the era pretty well, so was quite impressed...
Well worth a look, if you're wondering whether to bother or not

Stunning cinematography, extremely evocative, with some of the track action looking like oil paintings, also lots of low depth of field gorgeousness and certain amounts of graininess and soft focus used selectively.

I would cheerfully go back and pay to see it again.... if it wasn't for that nurse using that incorrect period ophthalmoscope in one of the scenes right at the start....  oh no, I would cheerfully go and pay to see that again.

Oh okay I was just born hence not familiar with it all!
Is it the formula 1 cars with six wheels  you learn something new I'll have to watch it now, and Ill give you my feed back on this movie.
Only problem with period films, they are not usually right and over drama everything to make it look good  :undecided:

The 6 wheeled Tyrrell only did a couple of seasons iirc it was 76 to 78, and possibly dumped because of updated regulations, I'm sure it'll be well explained on Wiki...
The 76 season was quite literally unbelievable, and is generally the reference point that people refer to when they say that F1 isn't like it used to be!

If you want to know what F1 used to be like, go and watch a "Formula Ford" race at any circuit!

And they're trying to ruin that by letting them run with aero, too!
