I'm moving house this week and have hired a standard size transit, the biggest thing I've driven is a new MG6 and obviously my 5 door Golf!
How difficult am I likely to find it and any advice? I pick it up at 10 tomorrow!
Thanks,
Jack

Go wide turning corners you might clip curbs otherwise
-
they are actually very easy to drive. little wider than a car of course but just go easy with it and you soon get used to it.

transits drive better than some cars

transits drive better than most cars

Careful if you nip out to a drive thru or a multi storey

Thanks guys,
hopefully I should get used to it fairly quickly, I will be covering some 120+ miles so there's plenty of time!
I hope that the "better than some cars" is no attempt at sarcasm at my 2.0 as I can assure you it's a joy to drive!
Thanks again!
Jack

Think he meant easier to drive. You might find reversing a bit harder but you have huge door mirrors so its not too bad as you can see everything in them.

Get The Sun on the dash, one arm on the window and lock your other hand with your mobile phone in it to your ear.
Only move the arm on the window sill to give other people the bird.
Cut in, don't signal and generally behave like a c*nt.
Shouldn't take too much to get the hang of.

drove a works van on site a few times. every time i get out of it i seriously consider buying a van, so comfy, so much room and really easy to drive. yeah there not fast, but the comfort factor makes up for it...

I'm doing the same thing at the end of September mate. I'm a bit nervous as I'll be driving a LWB Transporter, and biggest I've driven is a Caddy.

I drive these often:

Just without the windows in the back.
Don't drive it any different than a Polo or something, you'll get used to it in no time just maneuvering is the thing to learn.
On those dailys the back swings out a lot when turning so watch for that.
In the wet you can get the older one PROPER sideways. These ones are all twin wheel base at rear so they drift easy.

Now Now willy waving isn't going to help the OP to reverse around a tight drive and then take out a brick wall!

True. I could just read through all of Barrys previous posts to read the same old drivel...
When reversing etv you want to get the back wheels to the edge of say a corner and then turn. Just watch the back swinging as mentioned.
Reversing when maneuvering IMO is easier than trying to turn while going forwards.

I once drove down Brick lane when I was 18 in a "Luton big box" Saturday night lovely expensive cars parked both sides, smaller gap than my big box.
Next Saturday strange no parked cars down that particular lane weird that!
Moral of that story: Pull your wing mirrors if they have been fitted Dumbo wing mirrors.

you really are a funny guy  take a look at your previous post about what car your getting this week :smug:

At T junctions that are angled, it's best to swing the front around so that you are square onto them. If you are angled badly when turning right, you won't see a thing out of the passenger side window.
Also when reversing, if in doubt, get out and have a look.

Great vans the new Transporters, very easy to drive- had a brand new one for 2 days on hire from the local VW van centre, previously had a LWB Crafter which had rear, side and front parking sensors too to make things a little easier!

What's that got to do with anything?
I'm loving the A8. Lovely car. Be gone next year and a 3 series to replace it.... Jog on.
