Ok, called R-Tech who said they arnt really doing the MK6 GTI maps yet as there is still a bit of risk with it.
He told me that Shark Performance are the guys to go with at the moment, anyone had a map with them on their MK6 with them.
If not, who did you go with...would prefer a company midlands or the north, cheers

There's not as many TSI software tuners outside of the big names due to the age of the motor.
RTech will have their hands full with 1.8T and TFSI remaps for some time yet and the TSI will require extra time and development on top of this.
I went with Revo as it was under an hour's travel for me at a garage with plenty of experience of tuning VAG engines.
There weren't any independent software tuners nearby either.

I know you went with REVO, but who applied it for you / which branch.
TSI has been out for 4 years with the GTI and scirocco - I thought tuners would be all over it.

JKM Portsmouth.
There's still a bigger market for 1.8T and TFSI I guess.

too far for me mate...
-
There are loads of Revo resellers across the UK, the main reason I chose JKM is because of experience.
You could give Shark a go?
-
I think you have to factor as well as location, budget, whether you want switchable, are you likely to progress to Stage 2, tsi maps have been out for 4 years plus
-
True I wanted switchable map on this occasion so that narrows it down a fair bit!

TBH...i think ill be staying at stage one for at least a year. No monies for a K04, BBK and TBE yet....
so its just choosing the most experience people up north for the job....Search begins
Also, anyone had any issues with manual clutch even at stage 1? wouldnt have thought so....but worth asking.
-
There has been a couple of theads about clutch and revo maybe worth doing a search for them.

would be interesting to know how many people have actually goosed a clutch, i know a few with APR who have had slipping issues, I had slip on Stage 2 Revo on my roc, there again i don't thing the 1/4 miles at Inters or Santa Pop helped or being a lazy b'stard in higher gears and riding the torque curve, funnily enough i don't drive the 35 in a similar manner

Its a great engine but the management that goes with it is some of the biggest pile of poo going
It takes signifiant time and effort to develop maps

Looking into a map up at Sedox / PDT. they really seems to know their stuff and said they have no problems mapping the 2.0l TSI....
-
They done my car. Before and after dyno too.

Find them good? was it a good strong map yea...
-
Yeah service was good. Car made 166 bhp standard and 210 bhp stage 1
Is about 4 mpg better on fuel and now pulls like a petrol.

Mk6 TSi or GTD?
-
GTD mate
-
I went down the bluefin route from superchips. I already had the device from my previous car so they reset it for a price and I uploaded the map no problem.
I'll get it rr'd soon so will post the results

Cool. I'm sure you know that the devil is in th detail when it comes to remapping  ask them probing questions to make sure you are confident in their abilities :nerd:
Why dont you try forum sponsor Carbon

Ok ive been wanting to ask this question for a while.
People keep saying how good or how strong the revo map and similarmaps with similar output responces are.
But then you read the issues on all the websites about manual clutches cannot cope with the torque curve.
The replys are dont ride the torque  I find this to contradictory to the previous replys by owners.
In my mind as a design engineer a program is good if it is designed to work with all given parameters and uses. If not simply the program is poorly designed and not been tested correctly.
The car should be totally drivable and useable at ALL rpm and all levels and should take the clutch weekness into account.
Maybe people are too obsessed with numbers and ruller flat graphs.
Sorry but imo a revo map or similar from a personal point of view is a bad implimentaion of the hardware side of the project.
Maybe im just misunderstanding what im reading but this interpritation of what a good map and a weak map seems so messed up to me. Maybe I have it all wrong. Im not a mapper and this side of engineering is not my expertese and i would welcome someone to explain to me if im misunderstanding this.
-
I think it's always been a case of 'pay to play'. So you should expect reduced clutch life and manuals are usually more risky than DSG because of possible clutch riding/abuse in the past.
I suppose a torque reduced map could be made but then you still might lunch a component anyway. A clutch can go on stock torque outputs over time, a map will possibly accelerate this.
A lot depends on what sort of life the clutch and engine has had I don't think a tuner can alter maps for this reason and only advise of the possible ramifications of running higher torque and power outputs.
-
I feel the same, its not all about top BHP for me at the red line, i want a great steady map through out the rev range,
so i will ask for a map between 240 - 250bhp but coming on nice and early in the range.....
They experienced guy can adjust the map to suit us.

Just retuned a BMW 320d which had been remapped but was slipping in the higher gears
Managed to give him a smoother, more progressive throttle, less smoke and the same power and the clutch is no longer slipping
Its all about how the power is introduced :nerd:
I've covered 35,000 miles in my A3 running over 200bhp and 320lbs ft torque on the original clutch
I know customers who have more power and covered similar mileage, again, on the standard clutch
As Snoopy says, people are still obsessed with the big numbers. For me its about how the car drives in everyday conditions. You don't drive flat out everytme you jump in the car; you want a map that works with you, when you want it

How much can a Revo agent change? I was under the impression it was more of a one size fits all approach whereas an indy like yourself can offer more customisation.

Should be able to change as much as we can providing they have the equipment and training. It should be spot on before your drive away......
Equally if you have their SPS unit you can alter some things. Some cars require more fuel /air etc whilst others dont
-
I currently have an sps switch for sale, never used ;)
-
I had my car mapped by Sedox and the car drives much better than before.
According to my dyno printout the car is 210 bhp a gtd 170
I'm not very good at reading graphs and wondered people's thoughts.

That is lovely and smooth
I assume thats as smooth to drive on the road as it looks on the graph
Nice and progressive in the way the torque and power is delivered :afro: no nasty low down torque spikes which a few tuners seem to like doing.....
-
Yeah the torque also comes on early and strong. bet the pull feels much better. im gonna get booked in with them soon.
-
Yeah the car feels lovely and smooth and progressive and drive almost like a petrol.
The issue I have is the car goes faster than it feels, the wife has a pd 130 running an angel tuning remap which feels much quicker but isn't if you know what I mean?
It has loads of punch and feels more rewarding to drive.
-
Different engines and fuel systems
The old PD is very punchy with loads of low down torque. I had the 130 myself and certainly it gave you that shove in the back
CR is much smoother in its delivery
-
Yeah the old PD certainly pulls well but my CR is smooth as silk.
As you say 2 different cars and the CR is fantastic on fuel.
Thanks for the input
-
I had my wife's done by Motech in Northampton. He did her last Mk5 and has done a few of my cars in the past. Just takes a sensible approach in my experience not to hit the headline figures at the expense of everything else.
-
AMD in Essex. Been using them for years. Leon Cupra R was the first in 2003.....Superb guys.
-
I had Revo on mine, I had mine up to stage 2 aswell the manual clutch lasted 5mins
Stattlers in Sheffield they do both revo and GIAC maps
Highly recommended, do a quick search if you don't believe me, Caters for all VAG

Statlers do all the work on Hurdy's cars and have an excellent reputation

I went with APR and 6 of my friends in the UK have APR on thier TSIs and Rs and love it. No issues at all. You really cant go wrong with APR. They have the racing experience, Customer service that no one can match and they have done thousands of cars.
