I'm going to be upgrading the exhaust in the next few weeks. I've had a little read and people seem to be going for a ebay special 3" down pipe and decat, with a tdi centre section. What are people's thoughts on this?
What centre section will I be looking for, standard or branded, ie milltek? What's the bore too?
Cheers in advance

its the full exhaust on the ebay special bud and the bloke who sells them has less than 9 available since friday so best get your order in
-
I don't mean the catback kit mate, just down pipe and decat. Or is the whole kit the best way to go?
-
for about 140 more you get the turbo back, im grinning from ear to ear and i havent even fitted it yet lol, might as well do it properly
-
Have you got a link to it mate?

£230 though..!
People's thoughts on the first setup I said about?
-
I've had both and in my opinion the difference is night and day between the cheap system and a 'hybrid'. The eBay system is very loud, especially at motorway speeds. After driving for any more than 10 mins it becomes almost unbearable...the novelty of the exhaust soon wears off.
My current setup is 3" downpipe/decat combine with a Milltek non-resonated cat back and it is superb. Almost silent at motorway speeds and every day driving, however put your foot down and the noise is immense, it is in a different league to the eBay special.
I already had the downpipe/decat and the Milltek set me back £350 from Dubmeister, you can pick up downpipes for ~£90.

That was my first thought, I watched your videos and the drone puts me off.
So the 3" down pipe/decat from ebay are alright? What's the standard bore size of the AUM, 2.5?

Yeah 3" downpipe/decat is perfectly fine, stock downpipe is extremely restrictive so it's a good upgrade, standard bore is 2.25".
The Milltek is 2.5" but comes with a 2.25" reducer to join to standard cat, I had a 3"-2.5" reducer made up and used that instead.

I had 3" dp and decat, diesel straight theu centre and I found it a bit raspy.... But also not really that loud either, so getting a better back box might be the answer
-
Ok so how do you join the 3" decat to the 2.25 standard exhaust? Reducer?

That would be an absolute mission, 2.25" pipe won't flare to 3" so you won't be able to just sleeve it :undecided:
-
you may as well save for a full miltek system tbh if you dont want the 3"
-
So how do other people fit decats without forking out for milltek kits?!
-
A 2.5" decat would be the best solution imo.

Thanks, I've found a few on eBay. Then all I'd need is a small 2.5-2.25 reducer right?

check with the sellar, mine reduced down on the actual pipe so didnt need anything else to fit it
