Guess someone's picked up on how popular they are with remedials.

Cheap to run reliable cars of course!

I'm suprised they are allowed to use a car that old.

Its a local learner car for local people, we'll have no trouble hyar

Ignoring the fact you can't spell 'surprised' - why wouldn't they be allowed to use an older car? No different to controls on modern cars and a LOT cheaper for the instructor as he won't have any depreciation and technically you could service it yourself if you wanted, too.
I actually really like the idea of learning in something old like this and seeing it gave me a big grin - someone thinking outside the box.
-
Apologies for the spelling mistake, i guess i more or less assumed that there may be some issues regarding insurance for professional instructors using quite old cars.

Like Mr Hell i can see the attraction, especially for an instructor with mechanical knowledge who's just started out in business.

Well the mk3 is a very easy car to drive.

I'd like to see people learn in cars without all these fancy safety systems
My instructor had a 1.0 litre Polo which had no power steering or fancy traction control. It helps you appreciate the limits of a car when its only you who can avoid an accident
-
also if the learner runs out of island they can just sail round to a nearby slipway and have another go

Aren't mk3s limited to 4mph inland? just needs some tyres hanging from the side to make it the perfect learner car!

-

Yes there is, its just that Mk3 owners can't hear it over the outboard!

Spoke to a driving instructor today, there is no age limit on the type of car that can be used by a driving instructor in fact he told me that there is a fella in Exeter who uses a very clean and tidy 1975 mini.

Just dropped in on this thread expecting a phot of a scrapyard!
-
Well now guys as I learnt to drive in a Vauxhall Victor FB 1964 and a Vauxhall Viva (the coke bottle shape)
I can assure you there is no problem learning to drive in older cars!
(Oh and a Landrover on site)
