have it scanned for codes.
check the coolant sensor, make sure its in tacked and not caked in crap.
had the same issue a few months back and the coolant sensor was the cause, along with the stat.
does your temp gague get to 90 and sit there or is it over/under 90?

No temp is fine, had the water pump changed about 2 months ago. I plugged my code reader in but it found no faults.

Will check to coolant sensor

Clean the two metal prongs in the coolant bottle and check the sensor bud

Right guy's think I've found the problem, took the big plastic cover off the engine to take a look at the coolant sensor and found my cylinder head breather hose completely split open

I wouldn't think that would put stop light on tho. As I just replaced mine and my stop light wasn't on

Still having the same problem, I changed the thermostat sensor and replace the split cylinder head vacuum hoses but still its telling me to STOP intermittently

How's the power delivery? Does it feel like it's getting bogged down at higher rpm?

the only time I've seen the "STOP" is when we had a headgasket leak and it was drinking the coolant. It would come on when the level in the header tank dropped too low.

Power and running is all fine. Just had a service yesterday so all fluids and filters have been changed.

Power and running is all fine (no loss of any coolant). Just had a service yesterday so all fluids and filters have been changed.

Also had a code reader check but no faults found ether

usually the display will tell you whats wrong after the stop sign appears ie brake fluid, coolant etc, i assume that aint the case.

possible wiring/sensor fault perhaps

That will cause a stop light as as it will cause a drop in oil pressure

Nope just STOP. no check coolant or anything like that. That's what's making me think it's electrical fault maybe to the sensor

An engine drinking coolent could be an indication of head gasket?

i had this recently after getting brake caliper changed, random stop warnings with no more info, then i had other caliper changed by a different garage and they screwed up the job and basically all my brake fluid pissed out eventually throwing up a "stop" followed by "brake fluid" but according to garage that fixed it properly if i'd have used the brakes a few more times before i rolled slowly up to the garage my braking would have involved a wall or something equally as nasty

FINALLY sorted with this fault, had VASS TECH in Rugby take a look and traced the fault to the sensor in the coolant bottle.
