Title: Air flow meter

Mite sound stupid but do u need the air flow meter on ur car or can u run it with it off ?

it will run with it off, using replacement value....

that is sh!te on naturally aspirated engines already but there you got throttle body potentiometer so it can "guess" how much air is going in.

add a turbo and you got another variable.... so the replacement value will be even less close to the real deal...
which will result in:

loss of power,
lower mileage,
probably MOT failure,
check engine light coming on....
and finally you'll f**k your cat.

I know people with massive spec jap cars running without them, I wouldn't recommend it on a golf

It's not working. When it's contacted the car not running right but when u take it off it goes like sh!t of a shovel !

When you unplug the MAF the car runs on stock values loaded in the ECU if you unplug the MAF and the car runs better chances are it's fooked, if you think it runs like poo off a spade unplugged get a new one and it'll be better still.

Do not buy an ebay jobbie MAF or you'll regret it, in my personal opinion get it from VAG, yes it's more but you don't want to gamble on a part like this

Lol there go then both off us got were we r from wrong then. So people have then off but I wasn't sure weather is was safe to do so.

I ran mine for months off without issues that being said some people have run theirs off for days and had issues, all depends

If you can avoid driving it then do so if not you "should" be fine, just don't boot it everywhere

VW put my SAI there too, it became redundant/ no longer necessary when I fitted my sports cat  :tongue:

same with the 16s on mine when a got it but the 18s made them redundant  :wink: but did your car pass its mot ok
