Hallo, i try to explain my golf 3 story (sorry for bad english)
I present to you Religion or Hybrid01 (for vento front, cockpit TT inside)
This one is the my first GTI ABF engine in the last spec at its last worthersee tour 2005

And now the spec of Kult: my actually GTI 2E engine

In the march 2011 Hybrid02 (this is its name), was stopped for some private and familiar problem. I didn't have time and money to spent. Was parked in a open parking: 1 and 1/2 year of rain, snow, sun...hot sun.
On 6 june 2012 i decide to restart with a new born, finally i had a box to work harder on her. Here under the "come back" conditions

From 8 juny to 13 july i start with the bigger work for me never made: gift a hard refresh to my poor engine. I bought everything on ebay.de. And finally i changed the following parts with my self help and the help of a precious friends: Elsa and ****.
- full engine gasket and cylinder gasket head
- new full water hoses
- new water pump
- new thermostatic valve
- new pressure/temperature oil and water sensor
- full cleaning oil pump
- new timing and services belts
- new VR6 engine mounts
- new spark cable
- new tie rod, steering arm, and new bearing
- TT silent block
- powerrhor
- new front and rear disc and pads brake.
H2O (Hybrid02 shortened) say thanks. :D

I'm liking the TT surround. What have you done there? :afro:
It's not very clear
Hi. My TT surround is composed:
Gear frame in metal from Jom (in the past I purchased the same from MHW but in plastic): This gear frame have a TT fake ring
I toke TT oem ring, cowling and gearknob.
The fake ring is just stucked on the metal frame, and to fitting it to oem Golf tunnel is also stucked on the plastic oem Mk3 gear frame. In the past i have some problem with this solution. When I changed gear the TT frame teared out from Golf gear frame: a sh!t.
To solve this problem, i rebored the TT jom gearframe to fit the oem TT ring. To fix it i use screw that lock the ring to Jom frame and to golf mk3 frame. Now i solid and perfect working.
I hope to explain to you.
For all the others: Thanks so very much!

They look nice and expensive no doubt but are they actually necessary on a mk3?

It would be easier to use a smaller tyre or wheel spacers.

Finally i fitted the camber paltes (good machined from poland) They assure a -3° camber degree.
The fitting is so easy, but i found a trouble when i was fitting the second camber...
This spacer will make some trouble: the first is that lift the car, and the second is that i found 2 diffrernt wrong spacers for each camber
(http://i.imgur.com/pQKqIEk.jpg)
This is the trouble
There's a 1,3 cm of difference: th golf is higher on a side, but i check the problem when was time to screw the bolt on the damper thread :(
(http://i.imgur.com/ClaV5mG.jpg)
I solve the problem replacing the wrong apcers with these rebored bushes. They fitted perfectly wihout lifting the car.
The camber is made in 2 parts (upper and lower screwed with 8 bolts). I take the the lower to replace the rubber struts.
Loewering slow the car, and the camber will fit with any trouble.
Finish. Screw the 8 bolts. I place the camber with 90° degree from side spar. I make the right both camber with caliber.
These camber plate assure (with 0° degree at wheels) - 3° degree.

07 February 2013
Yesterday (finally) i solved the big trouble to rear axle.
Before 150 km testing, i check a dangerous feeling with car. Impossible to drive. At the rear is like a flag.
- camber -4.10
- toe +0,51
Excessive and too dangerous, it's time to solve with other shims. Founded by a guy that found the right data on vwVortex.
The new and right shims
(http://i.imgur.com/hWoUm2A.jpg)
Each rear Hub is fitted with 3 shims: 1 thick (/// or 3 mmm) and 2 more thin (// or 2 mm)
In the photo below, the right positioning on rear hub ( in the shot: the rear left hub front wieving. In the pic is showed with drums, but it's the same with disc)
Finally defitted my wrong shims (fitted only in the 2 bolts under hub)
3 hours for all 2 hubs :D
(http://i.imgur.com/nfp3ybr.jpg)
Rear hub in perfect condition also the wrong camber use.
And finally it's all ok!
Result:
-3 camber
+ 0,09 toe ( the same wolburg data)
Golf is perfect the feeling is optimal, and the rear is perfect. I'm very happy! :D

07 february 2013
And now the last setting work.
The front (worne) setting to find my way to low
With Mercedes Felgen, no problem with space from Fege to gewinde, but with Artec i Didn't have the safe clearence, and i can't low anymore.
IHMO i have only 2 way.
- Fitting higher wheel spacer (from 22 to 30 spurveirbreiturung)
- Settng a new camber
Yesterday i start to work with camber
(http://i.imgur.com/9ebbBpR.jpg)
With laser precison tools to measure angle, I stated my work.
Before to change, i check my standing camber: -1,3 degree with neutral upper camber plate.
I changed the camber wheel from -1,3 to +0,15
(http://i.imgur.com/nxKJkWx.jpg)
Now the standing of the wheels.....too much outside for me
(http://i.imgur.com/bNfZvrF.jpg)
I full close the camber plates
(http://i.imgur.com/0GOGtd9.jpg)
The finalstanding is great:
- Total camber -1,20
- The wheels is now corret positoned
- I have the right clearence to work safe with coilover, and i have the space to low the front axle.
Finally i lowered 1,8 cm anymore :D:D:D
(http://i.imgur.com/0QCa497.jpg)
I check my data in Tyre center (all good and perfect...now i can make myself camber/toe adjust)
Handling and feeling are perfect and no scratch. I'm very happy! :D

this project is amazing! you sir, are a visionary! black to white, brilliant. the vader lights! i'm gonna have to do mine like that now! the amp up above! mate...
how did you do the roof lining? need to do mine and would love some advise, even in broken english!

They look nice and expensive no doubt but are they actually necessary on a mk3?
It's necessary to made upper camber to have safe clearence between S2 felgen and coilover ;)

No, it wouldn't. His wheels are wide, so he needs the camber not only to get some arch clearance but also keep the inner of the rim away from the coil/adjuster rings.
How are £150 camber plates easier/cheaper than buying new tyres and or hubcentric spacers as well?
His way makes loads of sense, and I say that as I've been planning on doing it to mine for a while now.

hello again mate,
thanks for the info about the amp but i was actually wondering more about the roof lining itself. what was your process for wrapping it? what material did you use?
also i'm really interested how you did your headlights. why did you put them in the oven?! is the conversion to bi xenon easy?
new pics look great!

you put lights in the oven to soften the silicone so you can take off the glass and get inside :)

you put lights in the oven to soften the silicone so you can take off the glass and get inside :)
i thought that was the case. i take it the rest of the unit has a higher temperature threshold?

Open the glass from the rest of unit is also easy. You should put the oven with open door of oven (not close the oven's door!)
You must warm the headlight for 4 -5 minutes at 100 centigrades. Previous dismantle the 4 metal cips, you can open your glass pulling of the glass from the case (pay attention because the glass will be very hot)
I hope to explain the job...;)
-
Fitting the xenon bulb is so easy (you should check only the height of the bulb to be sure that the bulb doesn't touch the glass when you'll close the headlight)
The bulb is fixxed on the chrome lens with a bracket screwed on the bulb, no need cut or modify the lens.
In the previous pages you can see my "rudimetal" fitting guide with pics.

After one week, i demount the inox pipe. Too much loud, when engine is warm, the loud is more increased. Not good for riding and not good for police.
But i didn't want to fit the original middle exhaust.
My friend opened and emptied it. He fix a new curved holed pipe welded to inlet and outlet pipe joint.
The sound is increased from oem, and the engine response is more fast.
