I have recently been down to have the exhaust measured up for the biggest silencer possible to reduce the noise of the exhaust. Personally it doesn't bother me now but it's too loud for the kids in the back.

The guy who will be welding the box in for me couldn't believe I got it for under £200. He reckoned the labour alone to make something like that would top what I paid

I bought this system back in July and have had not problems with it!
Bough from jdmhondaparts for £220 delivered and it came it 5 days which included the weekend!
It's great quality and sounds awesome!
When it come to power gains the number 1 rule is flow=power
So any full 3" system will provided better power potential then a 2.5" one.
I think paying silly prices for miltek etc is just daft when you can get this one for £220!

I see what your saying as the decat pipe 80quid alone. Its the loudness and long term quality that worrys me
Title: Re: the 3" system
Post by: golfyste on 18 December 2012, 18:26
It's not that loud as it has a pretty big back box on it and ou could always add another pretty cheap.
And it good grade stainless so the long term quality will be as good as any other and will last longer then what the majority actually own their cars haha

I bought mine for £220 from JDM-HP, sold the downpipe section for £70. Result.

On my ko4 hybrid with a 3'' Downpipe, it's honestly really quite. SO much quieter than I was expecting to be honest.

Very happy with it.

I picked this same system up for 160. It had hardly been used and the seller "haunted" off edition 38 thought it was too loud.
I've now fallen in love with the exhaust, at first it was awfully loud, but ride it out, it really quitens down and under load sounds naughty as you dare!

I'm having an issue though, rattling, anybody getting rattles? If so, have you been able to stop it? Cheers!

In regards to quality, the welding is so neat and the steel is really high quality!
These are actually imported from china. I'd be interested to find out which factory is supplying them!

I work for a Chinese denim supplier so If I can find it, shipping should be easy!

The rattling the the bend over the axel due to the size of the pipe you have to undo the clamps twist the exhaust section a little then tighten them back up an all is good

Check where it is supported where the centre box is. The studs were too long on mine and banging on the heatshield so trimmed them down. I had a few knocks on mine but a little bit of tlc to it and a bit of tinkering and it is all sorted.

I would like to see the said fine of 1k!

Think this is a tall story I'm afraid

thats what ive been asking for for the last half hour  i did a search and he can be fined between 60 and 1K, hes got a face like a smacked arse and has snapped at everyone so was wondering if this is the case or whether hes got other issues and was caught speeding, regardless though he would have 14days inwhich to sort it out and have an emission test completed to prove he has sorted the issue with his motor

http://www.suffolk.police.uk/safetyadvice/roadsafety/knowthelaw/modifications.aspx (http://www.suffolk.police.uk/safetyadvice/roadsafety/knowthelaw/modifications.aspx)

i also did some checks for other laws and if a police officer pulls you and does his standard checks and finds your noise level a little high he can check electronically the actual sound emitting from your vehicle with their bag of goodies in the backl and if they find it to be near or over 80dbl then he is lawfully allowed to check your CO2 emissions and, if able to, check to see if all sections for the exhaust are in place. If your MOT has said passed on emissions yet hes equipment says not you'll be in breach of the law under Road Traffic Act for driving with out MOT and in driving without an MOT you will not have tax or insurance  :lipsrsealed: on top of that and if the cop is really pissed off he can also charge you under section 59 of the police reform act where your vehicle will fall under "Driving in a manner which is causing/has been causing, or is likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public." which includes noise polution as well

so i'm thinking his arguing has really end him in the deep end or he mouthed off, is exagerating his fine and has had an argument with the missus causing the fine  :lipsrsealed:

I think you would be hard pushed to find a quieter performance exhaust.
These things are spot on apart from the poor clamps supplied in the kit.

You'd probably need a reducer sleeve, the milltek will be 2.5".

you're right tbh, if i can buy it from the states, pay delivery and customes and not break £280 with fitting then they are well and truly over price for it

Have you done any research into silencers that could be added in? There's a couple of Jetex ones I was looking at but not sure what size will fit and where?

What's your instagram name?

And some more readings, all taken inside the car....

On idle - 65dB

70mph/3000rpm - 75dB

'Booting it' - peak of 85dB

I was keeping an eye on it as safely as I could and normal driving saw 70-80dB
