Mines quite bad at the mo but it could be worse.

This thread had just given me an excuse to go drive down some country roads! lol

^^^^^^^

That's hardly dirty. Mine's dirtier than that and I didn't think it was worth a photo.

If I'd have thought, I'd have taken a picture of the GTD I saw in Ludlow this morning. It was as if had been masked off just above the wheel arches and a mud/salt mix sprayed thickly over the bottom half. The back was even better. You couldn't even see where the number plate was, never mind read it.

i actually drove my car today and yesterday believe it or not!

was minging earlier but its lashing down now so its actually getting a free wash!

i might actually live dangerously and leave it on the drive tonight - might make me more inclined to use it now its dirty!

I've been using mine the last couple of days as it got dirty when I took it for tyres earlier this week. I'm debating whether to clean it tomorrow, but it's got to go out again on Thursday next week for MOT. It would make more sense to leave the cleaning until after it's test, then I can keep it tucked up in the garage for the rest of the winter.

a quick wash, even if you dont dry if off will be worth doing. just to help keep the worst of the salt at bay

i will definitely be washing mine at the weekend regardless. if its raining i wont bother drying it and just leave it out i think - i need to start using the thing a bit.

But I WILL have to clean it next weekend. If I clean it this weekend as well, that will double the chances of inflicting swirls. Minimal contact and all that.

I think washing the mats and hoovering it ought to satisfy the need for automotive cleaning this weekend.

Post by: mkviken on 14 December 2012, 15:46
on one hand you have salt eating away at your lovely wax and sealant and quietley munching away on the underside etc

on the other hand you have increased risk of swirl marks from cleaning as its so dirty etc....

bloody hell we should have just left them in the garage!

what have we done?!! :embarrassed: :embarrassed:

How do you dry it afterwards? A spin around the block works in summer, but this time of year is counter productive surely?

you spray a protective wax on after blasting off the crap and it gets rid of the water.

I assume you were pushing it round then Simon???

As for the Mk6, the wife was giving me some right grief about it at the weekend and, at first  I wasn't going to wash it as I don't finish work til the 21st so it'll be just as bad by then. But in the end I relented and washed it yesterday. I think I'll treat it to a proper clay and wax while I'm off.

Good job it wasn't the white one I was originally going to buy - now that would have been filth!!!

Depends how quickly you stop and whip the key out on the rear wiper.

Looks like a terriers wagging tail to me.  Excited and ready to race!

After my early morning road trip today, my car looked pretty yuk (as well as feeling yuk due to the DPF issue too )

This was due to all the salt on the motorway - the whole car is looking crusty and I didn't have time to wash it this PM either!

Took a quick snap with the phone
