Title: Should I fit my ko3s???
Post by: phatsam2003 on 08 September 2012, 09:28
Hi ppl, not been on here for ages and things have changed quite a lot!! anywho....

I've had a KO3s for a while now and just haven't got around to fitting it!

Basically I think the turbo needs changing as the cars burning oil hence why I bought the ko3s. My predicament is if I fit the ko3s I can't really afford a fresh remap (the car is already mapped with a ko3) and I'm also worried about the clutch giving up with the extra power, which I also couldn't afford to replace.

My question is...

Should I just stick the ko3s on and leave it without a fresh map?

or

Just fit another ko3 and leave it as is

The car is an AGU on 199500 which was mapped when I bought it, then I fitted...
Turbo back stainless Milteck exhaust
oo7p
silicone tip
plus a whole lot of other things that aren't really relevant to my question!

Any input is appreciated

you can get ko3 for very cheap on ebay. few options you could look at.

first have your ko3 turbo rebuilt i know some 1 who can do this for £110
second buy a ko3 of ebay they go for like £50-£100 but can be a bad turbo you wont know untill you fit it. if its good use it and save for a remap for ko3s.

Haha started a bit of a mileage battle!!

Yea she's done a bit of leg, but still going strong!! AGU all the way!!

Cheers for the replies though ppl, much appreciated. I think I may hold on to the Turbo and fit it once I've got some spare cash for a remap. If I change my mind I'll stick it in the classifieds with all the gaskets and bits needed to change it

thats put me at ease alot! i thought mine was bad
.

It's not bad, just broken in!! lol

Unfortunately today this happened....

Mum borrowed my car as I've got her's on axle stands waiting for a new clutch to arrive!
The guy that hit her was driving on the wrong side of the road for some reason! Luckily there are 2 eye witnesses that gave statements and My mum is fine, just a little shaken up!!

Anyway, changing the turbo is obviously now pointless!! lol

The turbo will prob be up for sale, depending on what car I buy next!

I'm tempted by a mk1 tt or an s3  or being sensible and buying a diesel

There's a few things on there!

Depends if I can get my paws on them though!! I am trying!

Stainless KW's look ok to me, just need to get the front offside one off to make sure! The dampers, bump stops and spring perches were only 6 months old in the fronts as well!! Re-built by KW
