Hi, hav a 16v golf gti and was wandering ur opinions on debadging. I like the front and rear VW badges
but was thinking on removing the grill 16v badge and gti and 16v badge under tail light?? I have already
had 2 slat grill on but did not like it so gone bk to orig one but had it professionally vinal wrapped.
-
Thoughts?
-
Remove them then make a decision, they're easily put back if you change your mind.
Personally I'd remove them and repaint them if needed. Mine are in a 3d black for example.
-
I prefer the rear badges on and the standard grille but i didn't like the big gti grille badge so i binned mine.
-
^ What Gavv says...
-
wat did u replace the front badge with as there would be a hole there??

+1 to this, but I replaced the gti badge for a 16v badge

He means the badge that says gti not the vw badge in the middle bud
-
Lol, oh yeah cheers
-
Yeah the 16v badge is a nicer style, the gti badge looks a bit too 90's to me.

Yh. I do like the way it kinda boasts that it's a 16v. But nowa days car like my misses gutless mazda2 1.3 is a dohc 16v lol
-
I think its more to make 8v owners feel inferior and somehow poorer in life....
-
HA HA! this is why i removed my 16v,to many distraught 8v owners
-
You can imagine a VW showroom in the mid 90's with the 16v and Vr out front and the poor 8v's lurking at the back for those of lesser means..
-
 Bet the 8v had to stay outside
-
Probably why they are all so rusty now...
-

Have not seen the state my valver was in?
But it is a 98 so was probably shoved outside to make way for mk4 1.8ts n r32s

I'm gonna get a badge less grille for my mk5..... I think they look quite cool.
Well tell them in the mk5 section :lipsrsealed:
-
Sorry dude....
-
only messin fella
-
Everyone hangs out in the mk3 section, strange seeing as how everyone hates em...
-
Why does everyone hate mk3's. I had a sh!tty old 1.9d non turbo, f**king loved it. Abused it everyday, always played fuel light bingo. Christ once I lost a bet and had to piss in the fuel tank as a forfeit. It ran the same as it ever did.
-
the gti badge looks a bit too 90's to me.
thats what i like about it
All GTI golfs have this even the New GTI
-
I don't do badges, never have. Only the VW roundels stay put on all my dubs.

No ones going to see the front of your car long enough to stare at the badge..
-
Took advise and got rid of 16v badge on front grill. U think black out front and rear VW badge looks
good??
-
Yes .but gloss black imo
-
Cheers Screech
-
Add primer first or directly spray it on??
-
I would scotch it up then primer then 2k top coat ,or basecoat and laquer.
-
I done before and jst sprayed the paint straight on. Being plastic it seemed to work well
-
Last time i sprayed paint straight on ,it wasnt long before it was flaking off and lookin nasty,i like to do stuff right first time,up to you fella your motor
-
For the sake of wait an extra couple hours I'd prime it. Will look a lot better and last longer
-
Yeah ur right primer then spray it
-
Thats the way
-
I must admit I also like the Wolfsburg rear badge instead of Vw one

Nice bit of bling...................
-
Get rid of the GTI, much more fun, I have done it to my GTI
I had a mate who's dad had just bought him a 206GTI, he pulled along side me in hi car, realise it was me and said 'nice car, mine is a GTI', he then booted it off the lights. I caught up and over took, at the next set of lights I said 'mine too'. I won't tell you what is reply was.
God's honest truth
-
At the risk of starting yet another 'mine is bigger/better/faster' than yours, the 206gti is quicker than an 8v mk3 and i own an 8v mk3.
-
But it's french.........
-
But it's french.........
I know and i did wash my mouth out after i posted it but it is a fact.
-
Yh I'd rather have an 8v then a French car!!
With the exception of a mk1 Williams Clio
-
205 GTi please
-
205 GTi please
YES! I used to have partial rights to a 205 Gti, with an MI16 2.0 block. It only produced 150-170bhp, but holy moly it was a rancid beast and used to tingle my testicles every time I abused it
-
to the original post keep the good old badges its worth more at the end of the day :D
