Title: R.I.P to my gti!
Post by: rolty_gti on 19 August 2012, 14:59
well this morning i was taking my dad over to the pub he had left his car last night, when approaching a crossroads some twit pulled out in front of me which i avoided but then to me thinking that was close his mate then done the same thing so i went head on into the side of his car!
every1 ok, no major drama, but my insurance company has wrote my gti off over the phone as its got to much body repair to the value of the car, and the blokes 206 has also been written off.
just waiting for the hire car company to contact me about a courtesy car and await a settlement figure from my insurance which should be a laugh!
anyways as much as i love my car and had lots planned for it, its gonna be scrapped. so i will be on the look out from now on for a new car/project.
any of you have anything decent for sale?

pics of the damage

Buy it back and fix it.  Looks superficial.

Headlight, bumper, wing and bonnet and should be good to go!

Can you not buy it back off the insurance company, that doesn't look badly damaged at all.
Title: Re: R.I.P to my gti!
Post by: rolty_gti on 19 August 2012, 15:16
no its not badly damaged at all, there was fluid pissin out of it when i drove it back home, presumable from the rad pipe?
i asked about buying it back off them and they said they wasnt able to offer me that option?dont know why as several of my mates have done it in the past.
gonna see what they offer me for it and maybe look around for another golf or a completely different car altogether.
if not then i will be tryin to keep it, but dont see the point in paying for my car again after already paying for it once and then have to pay out more for it, especially when it wasnt my fault!?
rather get a cheque and go get another 1, least it aint my money then, if that makes sense.

The other guy, he pulled out across me giving me no chance of avoiding him, his insurance and him claimed liability the day of the accident

This is bullsh!t.

Insurance companies are rotten lazy sh!ts.....the only reason they're writing this motor off is because they know full well, anyone who deals in insurance repairs, generally rip the guts out of every last job they're doing for maximum profit. It's laughable but you can't blame people trying to give the insurance companies some back, by ripping them off for a change!

Surely it would be in the insurance companies favour to come to an agreed repair settlement figure if the owner chooses to get the car fixed themselves.

They can't be f**ked to put in the admin and logistics regarding the repair. It's easier to just write something off, the losses are obviously easier to bare, than if they were to do things the right way!

The whole charade is self perpetuating. Insurance company f**ks the punter, the punter f**ks his car, the repair shop f**ks the insurance company. Repeat.

To demonstrate my point here is a picture of missus' car, that happened to be scraped into outside our gaff. As you can see the damage is minimal. The repair cost through the third parties insurance was £900+...un-f**king-believable.

They even claimed for the side repeater, door moulding, o/s light and o/s tyre. I said to them at the time I was receiving the estimate, that I would be shocked if the insurance company bought into their jargon, as I did not believe they could be so stupid. The man I questioned turned to me and said, "you haven't got a bloody clue, have you"....It sums it up perfectly, unfortunately

right well after waiting a few days i have heard from my insurance (admiral), they have offered me £1150 minus £450 excess? which i was told i wouldnt pay as im not at fault? minus £382.43 remianing insurance costs?why??? and the total they have offered me after there made up deductions is £317.57!!!!
how the fook am i meant to go buy the same car for that money??and they wont give me the option to buy the car back eitha as its one of there policies dues to some bullsh!t government legislation?
eitha way i also just had a call from admirals saulvage company askin if they can pick up the car tomorrow, my answer was a big no you fookin cant until i have a word with my insurance company, so they aint collecting it until i say so.
this has really pissed me off as 1. i wasn't the person who caused the crash! 2. the car shouldnt be written off! 3. my insurance as the other lads insurance are to lazy to deal with getting both cars repaired, instead they have written them off and then make money from saulvaging the parts from third parties. 4. even tho i wasn;t the person who caused the crash i'm being f**ked over!
i have lost my car, not able to buy it back from them, stuck with £300 to buy another "car" and all cause some twit hit me!
getting on the phone to insurance now, will keep you updated with progress.
in the mean time hears a pick of my lovely mk6 gti courtesy car my insurance were nice enough to lend me  lol

yep thats what i thought aswell! but apparently until the other guys insurance have claimed liability they have to charge me the excess and then i can claim it back after liability has been claimed.so i said i will leave the situation until the other guys insurance contact mine and take it from there.

situation is this, just spoke to my insurance and they went from offering me 1150 to 1750 in 5 minutes! BUT, i have to take £450 excess out of this or wait for liability to be claimed and also have to pay up the rest of my policy because i pay monthly? so leaves me with 915 with excess or 1365 if i wait a few days for liability to be claimed.
but the lovely people at admiral have said when i get a new car they can re-instate my policy and i wouldnt have to pay for it as i would've paid up the rest of the year already.
to me this is just taking the piss and i feel so out done by for not doing anything at all apart from driving my car responsably!
eitha way i look at it i'm being ripped off.and they wonder why people dont bother with insurance!! :lipsrsealed:

I would crash it on purpose and then claim for whiplash. Solves your sh!t offer from the Admiral. You could end up with 3 large....

i been on the phone to insurance again earlier and they have offered me 1750 which i thought fair do i'll accept that but then there takin remaining insurance policy costs til end of policy out of that and my excess or i wait a few days for other party's insurance to claim liabilty and end up with £1350 anyways,

i have not had chance read full thread so apologies in advance..

but do not fall for this crap admiral says about deducting excess etc they have tried that with me! and it is incorect! they do not tell you that they legally should offer you the value of the car what it is on the market now or they can offer you what they have.. ofcourse you would choose the value of the car on market now which should be about 2k.

They offered me same crap so what i did was go to independant solictor and put claim through them and funny enough admiral paid me 2.2k for the car.. and even politly asked if i want to buy the car for 600.. i said no keep the car give me the 2.2k thank you very much!

it is not your fault so you do not need to pay this exces crap.. presuming you are fully comp?? so do not fall for it.. tell them you either want to buy the car which you can as it is only going to be cat D.. or you want the value of the car which it is on the market today..which is legally what you are entitled too

also they are not allowed to deduct remaining insurance becuase your car is not going to be insured for the remaining months as it has been declared right off so thus not on the road and insurance companys property .. .so why should you pay for remaining months?? that is another bullsh!t charge they are trying to pocket.. YOU DONT NEED TO PAY SQUAT CRASH WAS NOT YOUR FAULT THEY SHOULD CHARGE THE 206 GUYS COMPANY NOT U!

btw i HATE admiral if you have not noticed they have been nothing but trouble for me so good luck hope you get what your entitled too

Just been catching up on the replies on here after returning from turkey, right well basically my old man has been dealing with admiral and Albany while I been away.ive managed to get 1750 out of admiral for my car which to be fair I'm ok with as I paid 2k for it ahead and a bit ago.BUT admiral are still taking the 450 excess from me and I have to put a claim through Albany to get that back. After bein on the phone to admiral for hours they are still takin the remaining money for my insurance as they reckon it's in the small print that customers agree to do that when they pay monthly for there policy and it's in the small print.but they did say when i get a new car i can carry on the policy and pay no extra charges or monthly payments up until the end of the policy year, HOW NICE OF THEM  :laugh:eitha way there's not much I can do but I will be receiving a cheque for just under a grand from admiral and shortly after a cheque for 450 from Albany for my excess from the third party.yes I am fully comp not that it does fak all!, pay out insurance yet when something happens I pay out yet again, what's the point of insurance??!

Also the other bad news is the mk6 got picked up this morning, was fun while it lasted.
So now I'm waiting for 2 cheques to be sent to me, so now as I type I am car hunting on the net, if anybody knows of a decent mk4 golf feel free to let me know

Why cannot they claim the money of the third party after all That is what you have paid them insurane for!! Its there job to do the run around. Insurance companys are fooking they are as bad as them
A55holes that claims that threw prices up. Its all "how Can we squeeze more money from this" situations now. i would have kicked off mate they told me claim of third party. Your simple argument should
Be what am i paying you for!

Good to hear you atleast got offered decent Amount bud. i paid annualy for mine that is why maybe you have had to pay the remainder. I still dont see why tho when the car you paid insure aint on road now
another insurance loop hole to sponge more Money off us i take it

Well apparently the excess they take off the settlement figure as a part payment for there "services" and I have to claim it back from Albany who is dealing with the claim and my hire car, which I don't get cos if albany are dealing with all this what are admiral doing?
Either way my car is being picked up today and I have received my first cheque, so now waiting on the second 1 from Albany, how long I will have to wait if I even get it! Who knows.
Apparently I have to pay the remainder of the insurance because I pay monthly and it's a clause in the small print, conning gifts that's all it is, but they have said when I get a new car I can carry on the policy and not have to pay for it unless the car is more expensive to insure or I get a rebate if the car is cheaper to insure.
HOW NICE OF THEM, eitha way rant over lol just thought I'd give you an update

Why on earth are you going through your insurance at all? Stop the process of claiming through them immediately, he has claimed fault hasn't he? His insurance should do everything for you.

Everything should be handled by his insurance so it doesn't effect your no claims and you don't have to pay anything out.

This is exactly how I handled my insurance claim in 2009 against the Merc that rear ended me, I even bought the Golf back and carried on using it.until I sank it.

I hate to say from recent experience, even when the accidents not your fault, you still get knobbed over. My car was parked at the side of the road, me inside watching tv, driver convicted at court due to the severity and I'm still suffering.
I can no longer get insured on my dads mk6, well not for less than £800 extra on his policy. My insurance went up £200.
My insurers LV, also took the excess, this will always happen and then it's claimed back from the other insurer. Get your legal cover solicitors involved.
I did get my full no claims, and a good value for my car.
But LV would not tell me the total value of the claim. I bet it was thousands they charged back.
