Title: Big LUXURY motors.
Post by: JC on 05 August 2012, 21:23
Right then, the brief

BIG

Over 15 years old.

BIG

£1000 tops - a touch more for the right motor ( even more if someone buys the G2 or the Cups off it  :lipsrsealed: )

The time has come for Mr Chuff to have a " Ride "

No more crashing about in Lowered Dubs

So, Big Mercs, Beemers, or Jags have been the thoughts so far.

MPG isnt an issue - this will be my toy, take me to the shops on a satdee in luxury

What else is out there

The problem with big barges that were expensive when new is they're still expensive to fix when they get old. You can very easily get a fault that costs more than you paid for the car to repair. Running one of these types of car requires at least a £1K slush fund, at least you have the vectra for daily duties though.

My vote would be a 7 series as they look mean as f**K.

Very true, these cars can often be chosen in a rush because someone is thinking they're getting a bargain luxury car, but in reality they're very expensive with some very lucrative faults waiting to happen with large repair bills, even for parts alone. And at that age, they're hardly luxury anymore, since newer cars have upped their game over the years.

How about a nice range rover, tough as boots and a diy proposition for maintenance as long as the suspension is ok and the fuel injection is smooth you can waft about with a flat cap on sneering at the prolitariat.

I've had 2 w124's both TE's and quite easily still the best cars I've ever had, built to do a million miles and last a hundred years, these proper old mercs are built like no other car...

And Lexus! Do me a favour, just a Toyota full of toys and cheap leather, 1k worth will be a proper turd!

I'm guessing mr C wants a proper autobahn cruiser, out of all that old stuff, only pre 95 mercs fit the bill, inexpensive parts and easy to fix, has to be the name of the game.
One owner mercs are still readily available, especially the E class cars, they were bought and kept like part of the family...

My father in law has a 1995 Lexus LS400 and although dull, it is the most comfortable car I've been in. It has a ridiculous amount of toys and will happily sit all day at 120 (in Germany). Silky smooth, utterly dependable and anonymous enough to not have anyone think of nicking it. However, it does have all the street cred of a fat nerdy kid in the football team

Therefore an utterly f**ked S-class is what the big man needs.

BIG AND PIMPIN?

this will allow you to do the following:

increase your income evenings and weekends through private hire.. therefore covering the cost of your purchase
(plus it would allow you to carry a lot of inebriated females in the back)
carry out 4x4 IOW duties to the best of your abilities (track might have to be widened)
form and maintain a successful prostitue ring and drugs operation

doesn't get much bigger than this..

auto boxes are only crap when you don't have enough power.

750i  drives just fine with an auto box  i'd proably one of the few cars id worry more about owning a manual one,  i bet they didn't make meany manual ones and it'd proably need a clutch  i bet that would rape the wallet.   and haveing worked on them before i woouldn't be first in line to fit a clutch

T5's are rapid! If you can find a T5R in budget they're AWD

840's are cool but I imagine way over budget and not that big inside - one of my old bosses had one for a while.

The other issue with the 840 is it's not an 850

Needs to stop paddling around in Omegas and Vauxhall clutter and buy something proper, as per the title of the thread.

Or admit he's failing to man-up.
