In the picture below is a metal rod that is covered in oil (as the green arrow shows) It is behind the engine on the back next to the fire wall. The turbo is just off the left hand side of the picture out of sight.

Where is the oil likely to of come from? should it be there? The oil did seem fresh.
Thanks

Sorry, I think the turbo is to the right hand side off the picture, as I turned the picture round

Anyone got any ideas, please  I just trying to get to the bottom of where my remap power has dissapeared too!
-
hard to see from there mate, upload a few more pics, oil is normally from boost leaks  and could be where your power has gone

Yeh that is what I thought, I could not find any pipe around there though. I am having my brake fluid changed today, so I will ask the mechanic to have a look. I will try and get some more pictures later on, but it is a bit difficult because of the place where it is on the back of the block.
Thanks

I get the rough idea of where it is, but cant think of anything there that would leak boost, didnt you fit a TIP recently? have you checked that ?

Yes I had a tip fitted, I don't think the tip is the problem, but will ask the mechanic if he can see a leak there. The pipe or metal bar (whatever it is) is kind of inside the back of the block a bit. There is also oil over the heat shield that covers the pipe that connects to the pancake pipe from the charge pipe.
Could it be coming from the block?

There is black soot on top of the pipe/heat shield from pancake to charge pipe. I got a feeling the exhaust manifold seal could of gone, or worse has a crack in it :undecided: Is that a possibility at all?
-
It could be, but if it was leaking that much you would have no oil in the sump, because it would really have to gush out of the block to cover the pipe.
where the charge pipe meets the tube for the pancake is a very common area for boost leaks, mine was sorted by someone by joining 2 Jubilees together.
As with any leak, wipe it down so the surrounding area is clean and then you can get a better idea of the source (I use gunk to get rid of stubborn stuff like that) << not an advert for Gunk

It could have but I would have thought you would get a code for that, the problem is you dont know how much of this stuff was there 'before' you experienced any issues, wipe it all down as best you can and then see where the source is

Will do, Thanks mate  I had the charge pipe and hose to the pancake pipe change a few weeks ago for the agu set up. I will see what I can find and tell of my findings later on.

chances are its something little and its never a coincidence when something goes wrong, weeks after the area near it being worked on

AUM? mine always leaks/is covered in oil. no performance loss issues tho

Well, the mechanic had a look with me, and he said it isn't blowing, so he doesn't think it is the manifold or gasket. He said there is often oil in places on the engine, but he is baffled as to where the power has gone, as it only seems about in the 160's bhp where it should be 200+ for an AUM

It is not that part on the pipe that is leaking on mine, because the soot/oil is on top of the heat shield that covers the pipe, so it is coming from somewhere else.
This may sound a stupid question, but if you don't know then always ask, so I am told  But, where is the sump plug? if this was leaking could it cause a power loss. I ask because when I got my car back from VW last week for new coilpacks recall, they said I needed 1/2 a litre of oil ! Now I only had an oil change done about 6 months or so ago as part of a service, so it must be going somewhere?
