Going to see about getting my rear valance done gloss black same as Gringe ed35. While over going to ask about getting the inside of the VW badge done white to colour code to the rest of the car but not sure what to do about the side skirts, gloss black or colour code them white, I cannot make my mind up!? Also not sure about the front lip, to leave it or gloss black it? I am scared the gloss black will make it look as if it isnt there??
Opinions people??
Kenny

i was going to do my font lip gloss black but when it gets stone chipped it will look crap
when i can be arsed i will vinyl wrap it. that way when it looks tatty it can be easy changed back to white
-
Hmmmm your right about the front lip, even the wrap wouldn't last long!
What bout these colour coded side skirts:

There was a new Polo GTI in white at inters that had all the lower trim painted gloss black and it looked lovely imo! thats what i'd do, colour coding makes it look a bit chavvy being honest.
-
Wing mirrors, rear diffuser and front lip yes, but not sure about the side skirts. The side skirts are a nice feature as the are IMO.

+1 the polo gti looked lovely. I think the black side skirts give shape to the side.
-
Rear diffuser & front lip would look good black, personally would leave everything else well alone as those side skirts look nasty sprayed white and I really don't like the whole black wing mirror thing either.
My plan is to have my front lip sprayed the same metallic graphite colour as the centre piece on the front bumper.
-
i wouldn't paint the GTI side skirts white or black. the definitely will get hammered by stone chips. personally i think they look good bare plastic.
i would either fit 35/bluemotion skirts or leave them alone
the front and rear diffuser would look good black but even the diffuser I'm not that bothered about
for me its the front lip thats the awkward looking part.

yeah its just a lot cheaper to wrap and when it does look speckled with chips you can easy peel it off.
-
I'm having the diffuser gloss black but with colour coded (candy white) side skirts
-
Yep same as above really, rear diffuser, front lip and wing mirrors look cool when sprayed gloss black....but the side skirts shud be left well alone....
-
Think I am going to go against everyone here! Black rear valance and colour coded side skirts!

Would love these skirts but VW will charge a fortune!?

Yeah think they're about £600

Dropped my car off at the body works yesterday morning and got a phone call today to collect. As soon as I turned I noticed something wasn't right! Rear diffuser was colour coded instead of gloss black!! So back off with the diffuser and I have to go over tomorrow morning to get it fitted with a fresh coat of gloss black! Side skirts are done though  I liking the cleaner fresh look now, no more plastic

Glad youre pleased as that what matters, but it just looks like a standard 3 door golf without the black detail to the side skirts IMO, sorry to be negative.
-
that actually looks better than i expected. looks like it could be OEM like that
i prefer the plastic look on my car but that does look smart
-
Yeah I think it looks alright. Could we get some pics of the colour coded diffuser, just out of interest?
-
Just my opinion but i think it looks daft, sorry.
-
I think the white skirts looks alright....i've never been a fan of the black ones....
post up a photo of the Rear diffuser when your done...

-
yea i like this
no reason for the black just cheapens the look imo
-
Thanks for the comments folks. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Just down to personnel preference I guess. All my cars I have owned ( all 3 of them  ) I have colour coded the plastic bumpers/skirts. Anyways, will be getting the rear diffuser today  will get pics up soon!

Rear diffuser looks great Kenny.
Did you not fancy the side skirts gloss black to match the diffuser?

Another white GTI in Ayrshire!!  where u from mate? Only one I have seen about is one in west Kilbride? Infact a white one passed me when I was picking my car up in Dalry, wasn't you was it?
-
Very nice Kenny! It looks mint with the larger exhaust tips too.
-
Love the gloss black, I think I'm going to have to get that done.
I have black gloss mirror caps so I might look at getting the side skirts done at the same time.

Very good, Kenneth
I was a sceptic about the gloss finish at the rear but it looks better than I thought it would do.
Would you dare do the same to the mudflaps....

I like it, looks very  indeed
-
I had thought about getting them done to match the grey on the front grill panel like Asker did.
Im not sure of the white/black combo guess i would have to see it in real life to make a judgement.
If your happy thats all that matters.
