Came out of work today to find my motor with this big dent, my car was parked right up against the wall in private car park giving enough room for them not bang my car with there door  . I goes up to the NHS building and yes they have admitted responsibility, said the wind caused there door to fly open on to my car .
My question is who will fix this and do a good job? :undecided:
-
Well at least they admitted doing it and you can claim, this happened to me in a car park with my clio and left a massive dent right on the arch. Never had it fixed but when I noticed it I was absolutely fuming, especially when a trolley was leaning up against my car.
-
That would p..s me right off....

+1!! All of my conflict management skills would be put to the test!
Personally I'd go through their insurance, at least then it would get a decent job done and if not you can keep rejecting it until they have.
-
That's looks nasty Steve...
But anyone with any common sense surely(considering the wind speeds at the mo) wud take more care in getting in and out of there vehicles...i.e holding on to there door when getting in and out, and if not for there own pride and joy to stop things like this happening esp as this was a avoidable accident...
But as said at least someone has admitted liability!!!
Feel for you man, hope you can get it sort quick....
-
I would be so tempted to try this!

Yea it was there van that parks next my car for the last 8yrs I alway leave loads of space in between, but there car was over the lines this morning coming over on to my space but still plenty of room though oh and it was a women just saying like
-
so they agreed to pay the bill?
i reckon a smart repair could pull that out. is the paint broken?
thats the reason i never leave mine in car parks! theres some pretty ignorant people out there who really don't give a sh!t and I'm sure some do these things on purpose when they see a nice car

The paint is broken only slightly tiny bit, but the dents are on the crease of the door which is going to be difficult put right? As far parking goes its really really difficult around car parks but I try to make the car safe  Can I choose where I get the car repaired or do I have to go with there insurance company ?
-
Oh dear this would really anoy me, hope it's sorted quickly and hassle free?
-
Ouch Steve
Normally, you can choose your body repair shop but the insurance company will then not provide a courtesy car but, if it's not your fault and they have admitted liability you shoudl be able to claim back reasonable costs of getting one whilst yours is in the bodyshop

Might be best if I go with there insurance company then??
-
I'd ask them where their approved bodyshop is then google to see if you can see any reviews. These places tend to process cars very quickly.
Also, ask your dealer where they repair their cars.
Whereabouts in London are you? I know a fantastic painter and detailer in Gillingham if that's not too far?
After a horrible experience on my Mk4 Golf, I'd never go to an insurance body shop again.

The dealers are very very expensive, I know a place in Brixton that VAG approved and they did a great job on my GTD when they sprayed the front bumper couldn't tell the difference, but it was a spray job and there was no dents on the car
-
I think they'll be as good with dents as paint!
Pop down and ask them to show you some of their work that they have going on in the bodyshop.
-
Personally I would contact someone who specialises in dents first of all and show them, get the dent out and then find someone who can touch it up, wet sand and polish it so it's not visible. I would avoid spray work especially on something that will be so minor. In my opinion, if going through insurance, a VW approved bodyshop would have to spray the entire panel and for them to ensure the colour matches 100%, it will probably be an entire side sprayed to blend it in. Would you really want that?
I'm almost positive you could wet sand and get an invisible repair as I can't even see the paint damage on the photo.
Get on detailing world and find someone local who can do it!
-
One of those dentmaster type places would get that out no problem.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcPsLtJROb4
I had one on the crease next to the fuel filler and thought there is no way it would come out but you would never know.
My local guy charges £50 a panel regardless of how many dents you have on that panel.
-
I also say get a dent man to sort it out. I've had similar misfortunes twice this year (grrrrrr) and within a few minutes of tackling it, the dent guy I got had it sorted! You'd never know the car was touched. No respraying, no hassle and small money. Its amazing what these guys can do now.
I'd much prefer this approach if you can get away with it over the traditional body shop and paint job for something so minor.

Gutted reversed into a metal bollard this morning just tapped it and this happened^^^^
-
O Dear....just don't know what to say....
-
Lets just hope its only twice for you this time, its expensive fix but if you need any parts then give me a PM and once my contact at VW is back from holiday ill ask for a price and see whether he can help with any discount.
I feel your pain and I only opened the door a little too far earlier and scuffed the door, you can barely notice it but still pissed off.

I know <man hug>
PS Always approach the car from the front and you'll not see it
-
it was going in the body shop anyway. thats one way to look at it
must be gutted
would it be possible to colour code the black plastic to white and plastic weld/fill the crack?
that would save a new bumper anyway

Steve, surely the rear valance is separate to the bumper? I bought one for my Passat and it was less than £50.
-
The exhaust also looks like it has moved to the right or is it just the angle of the photograph

Update car goes in next week new door will be fitted I think , contacted Dentmaster they said could be fixed, but wouldn't be perfect and i'm a perfectionist needs to be right question is can I ask them to do the bumper while there at it? Anyone know how to adjust the volume on parking sensors for the back? :undecided:

I would have honestly let them or someone else have a go at it. If you're a perfectionist, then you won't want the door painting without blending it into the rest of car. And as a perfectionist, do you really want this much paint on the car?

Steve
you'll need to change your username to Steve50
I'd be tempted to try the dent repair first and see what they can do? If not happy you can then go down the respray route and the advantage is that they will have to fill a smaller dent as a result of the attempt by Mr Dentman?

If you need the space and you have given up on driving then yes they are great. Two of my mates have them as family cars but they also have a GTI and an R32 between them as proper cars
-

Got it for a week and there going to fix the bumper at 150 quid Inc VAT so not bad. I don't need 7 seats though, but you can pick them up fairley cheap now. At the end of the day its just a ford and they cut corners IMO.
