With bluefin, can this be returned to stock at any time? And what makes this better in your opinion? Besides from the price...?

The fact you get a handset that can allow the car to be put to standard at will, and also if you have any problems etc, or there are any updates to the map, you update it over the Internet and reapply to the car.

I didnt think bluefin would work on an ecu that was encrypted.

Is it not just the GTD that is encrypted? To be fair its not just the Bluefin that wouldn't work it would be all of them as the ECU would have to physically come out and have some surgery.

APR and REVO can "jailbreak" ECUs

APR and REVO can "jailbreak" ECUs

You mean without opening up the ECU? :undecided:

The revo switch also allows you to revert back to a stock map at will. There is also a anti-theft mode where the car will not move even if you have the key

I thought it puts a stock map on and not the original map?

Revo stock map is a revo map not actual stock map.

Revo stock map is a revo map not actual stock map.

So even worse if you want to keep the original map on your car. My understanding is that Bluefin is the only one that does store your original map?

Cheers,

Jim

That or if you use an Alientech Powergate device (similar concept to the Bluefin).  That stores your original map and up to two other maps  :nerd:

APR used to offer switchable maps (different octanes, STD, valet and ECU lock out) using the cruise control as the switch and so is this a STD map or the original?

Supposedly APR is also coming out with an iPhone app where you can switch programs with it.

How does it talk to the car though?  Surely it needs a connection to the OBD?

I THINK you connect something to the OBD port. Im not sure and I dont know when APR is going to release it IF they release it. They havent given a timeframe on it and from what I have read the pictures and info should of never been released.

Cheers guys.
I decided to go for the Bluefin for its ease of use and price. Im very happy with results and impressed with the mid-range torque.
Lets see if I can shave a second off my time at Bug Jam n maybe cross the line at 100 mph+

good choke there  i really rate mine.

i walloped a megane RS225 F1 the other day. no way a standard GTI would have. it definitely gives it the oomph it was missing.

Does anyone know what kind of power output you are looking at with the bluefin? Ive been quoted £250 for a standard remap and he says he has made around 250 on the rolling roads.

What benefit is having a bluefin??

I've seen quite a few RR figures for Bluefins in MK5 GTI's and a few on the MK6 and they are around the 250 mark.

Benefits are more of everything!! It retains the original map, and it's cheap!
