5x100 got a mk3 gti...

i tried looking for 5x100 to 4x100 adaptors as all the good wheels seem to be in 4 stud and could not find any anywhere.
you would have to have them made up professionally.
seen plenty of 4x100 to 5x100 but never the other way round.
think most peoples argument would be that why would anybody want to go from 5 studs down to only 4.
-
You could always convert your car to 4 stud, I would not risk cheap adaptors.
Or just find wheels that fit.
-
buya 4 stud mk3 put everything from ur car in to the 4 stud lol

This is your best bet.

what is required to do this?

VW didn't decide that the GTI/VR6s needed 5 M14 bolts to hold the wheels on instead of 4 M12 bolts, for no reason.
Does anybody else think that downgrading from 5 x M14 bolts to 4 x M12 bolts seems somewhat stupid and could have insurance implications?
-
I believe the reason they dont make 5 stud down to 4 stud adapters is because it isnt safe, possibly,
Im on the fence that ess three just put up......

Agreed, hence why I would suggest getting wheels that fit.

Another option is to get the wheels welded & re-drilled.

This!!
I was going to do this to some really nice BBS RS's but the cost of the wheels, the work and then powdercoat was more than the cost of my 3 piece schmidts

Find some that you like in 5x100, going to be a lot easier.

just a question, about the whole reason they put 5 stud of gti and 4 stud on CL why would that be then? i mean some people convert there 4 stud mk2 to a vr6 engine others have done the same with a 4 stud mk3. so this makes me think maybe VW done it just to make the GTi/VR6 Different yet the same in everyway they could. IE heated seats in a vr6 crap seats in a CL? could i no be right? unless someone has some proven claim that the wheels will fall off if you convert a 5 stud gti to a 4 stud?
-
Golf GTi = 2.0i 8v 115bhp with 5 stud wheels
Golf Avant Garde Cabrio = 2.0i 8v 115bhp with 4 stud wheels
This can't be a safety issue as the Cabrio weighs more and has heavier duty rear springs and more stress on the hubs/wheels, I could convert to 5 stud with no issues and many Cabrio owners have already so why converting the other way for a GTi owner be an issue???
Only problem you'll have is 4 stud cars have drum brakes at the rear and you'll need to use disc brakes for a Golf mk2 or better still a 4 stud Seat Ibiza Cupra R. plus you could go big brakes up front from the Cupra R which gives you 305mm disc's.

All GTI's and VR's had the plus susp set up with 5 stud wheels.

Maybe you think it is not a safety issue however an insurance company may view it in a different light, converting to 5 stud means your making it better, switching the other way could be viewed as unsafe as you are taking strength away.
-
Pointless downgrade. Find different wheels.

I'm pleased someone else spotted that...
not to mention the bigger ARBs, stiffer bodyshell and hence more stress on the hubs, bearings and wheel bolts.

the only wheels iv owned which have fitted straight away were my standard ones.
5x114.3 and 5x120.6 but since when do i do normal things!
