how long do we estimate until this makes it in to ordinary living rooms :undecided:
-
That's nuts
-
Give it 2 years before they become more "affordable".
-
£8k is waaay too much to spend on a tv... but my current tv is just too small. Do I wait.... or should I just get a new one :undecided:
-
if you earnenough to afford one surely you have no time to watch it!

The sony is beautifull to look at i have to say my pal has it.... But sorry to say the samsung on full Hd looks far more sharper But the sony is still nice...
If i was you i wouldnt be holding of for OLED mate as it will still be a while before a 55 inch OLED is even 2.5k bud
-
does OLED still suffer from short lifespan issues?
-
I believe not mate from what I have read but time will tell when they become more available to the public
-
does OLED still suffer from short lifespan issues?
i read that the blue ones have a span of just 10,000 hours (iirc) but they are improving this
-
Theres nothing on TV to justify the price
-
What if it had a Apple logo on the front? Then it would be the dogs bollocks :lipsrsealed:

Very true... lets just wait for the I-OLED* to come out so the usual suspects can cream over it.
*most likely purchased from someone and rebadged  :lipsrsealed:

I still prefer the Panasonic Plasmas...I keep looking at the competition & LCD but return to Panasonic and Plasma.
Maybe OLED will prove a step on.

thats what I thought... which equates to about 5 years at 8 hours a day (iirc)

Thankfully my tv gets no where near that much use.. i prefer to use it for films/sports/ps3

I have seen both and dont think the samsung picture is any better than the sony... in fact I would say the sony just pips it and most importantly does what a tv needs to do and focuses on the picture rather than bits you dont need.
2 remotes are a pain in the a$$ no matter which way you look at it. Just to add the samsung glases are far too flimsy for my liking and fail to block out any light from the sides (not that I care much for 3d).
As for OLED.. I had planned on buying a new tv in the next few weeks but for now I have brought my 40" LED 3D tv downstairs and that will do the job for the next couple of months

Lol 2 remotes you don't need both the standard 1 is simply in case you don't like the touch and voice remote.
They are both good tv's either way but for me samsung in terms of design quality and price win for me and the smart interface is just amazing
-
whilst i agree its impressive... it boils back down to do you really need a smart interface on a tv??? I need a sky remote to select a channel and a ps3 remote to play games.... thats about it.
I dont want to wave at my tv to change channels or have it recognise me/tag me in pictures and let everyone I know im online via skype and have a video camera looking at me as I watch tv!!! :lipsrsealed:
call me old fashioned but I just want to put on the tv and watch anything I like without having to search for remote controls or go through 20 menu items.
I love technology... but lets not to digress from the fact its supposed to be a tv not a phone or laptop or facebook app.
Suddenly everything wants to be something else.. :undecided:
-
The way of the world mate but te simple fact is don't need my media pc now and it connects to my main pc... The missus uses the Skype facility as I work offshore so it is pretty cool.... I'm sure you have a Smartphone and not a Nokia brick? As for Facebook what doesn't have it ? Lol but I agree certain features are a joke but it is still cool but then I love functionality...
-
..... ah music to my ears!!
lets start with a nice 55"

the 4k? or what Wolfy was on about?
The 4k are super high resolution screens, double or better than 1080p
-
Not seen a 4k... whats one of those??
the link above is only 100hz refresh... so unless this is a different scale thats not very high
