mine need changing! (not the rear wishbone bushes, the ones behind just for the subframe), anyone done the job?
Had a quick search and mk1 audi tt ones seem to be the ones to go for. I saw a pic and they are in two bits so wouldn't need pressing in, whereas I believe the mk4 one's would. Is this correct?
also, can the subframe be lowered enough without having to loosen stuff like the rack?
cheers
-
the tt ones are crap, try polybush ones (44AT Front, Subframe to Chassis Rear Bush) http://www.polybush.co.uk/shop/538_Volkswagen
-
can you elaborate?
my concern with that is with the mounts effectively being part of the rear engine mount, poly bushes will vibrate too much with the engine being a diesel. Same reason I went with the ths dogbone and not poly
-
caused way to much cabin vibration under the floor tbh when pulling off as there nearly solid aluminium with a rubber edge, i have now the polybush ones and the drive is great.
-
thought it would be the other way round!
it's hard to tell from the pic, are the poly bushes 1 or 2 piece? ie do they need pressing in
-
theres 1 poly bush and metal rod that you insert into the middle.
-
ok cheers, need pressing in then!
-
TT versions of the bushes have been fine for me
-
dunndeal, what engine is in your mk4? might be a diesel thing
-
1.8t the vibration was horrendous.
what tt bushes have you fitted wazzer? mine were out of the roaster.
-
superpro poly bushes is what im using and cant fault them
-
superpro are very good but they dont make subframe bushes.
-
ah your right didnt read it properly :embarassed:
-
wish they did make them tbh id snap them up in a heartbeat.
-
I have TT roadster subframe bushes in mine along with the full TT arms

I don't even want to imagine the vibs on a diesel then
-
wazzer, did you have to press the tt bushes in?
-
They were already done in that subframe but I believe they had to be pressed in yes
