Title: Cambelt Tensioner damper
Post by: paultownsend on 20 May 2012, 21:29
Good evening all

Next week I'm getting my cambelt and waterpump done. The car is a 90k old 1.8t.
The car had it's last major service at Vw. But it made no mention of the Cambelt Tensioner damper.

The parts I am using are all VW tps items. Does the Tensioner damper need to be done at the sane time?
I will be going through AVS and the item is an INA. Is this decent OE quality?

Also, what exactly does this famed do? As the Vw kit already comes with a roller?

If your doing your cam belt its a good idea to do your water pump at the same time if its not already been done as its a common problem.

I always go by doing your belt do the tensiioner to.

I this the ideal cambelt kit?

seems expensive at £174

You should get the idler and tensioner pulley in the cambelt kit.

I would'nt dream of changing a cambelt with doing the tensioner...

My mate works at vw and he never fits damper ever or very rarely, do get tensioner and idler in kit. INA oem kit spot on.

tensioner is worth doing IMO, if that goes it will do some serious damage, and all for the sake of £40 odd
