Gutted. Bring back Benitez to continue fcuk them up!
-
King Kenny has fallen from throne.
-
Noooo!
I wanted him to stay just one more season, to buy even worse players and make them finish lower than before!! Damn it!!
-
Looks there is a job opening for you Mani (R32UK)
-
unfortunately no one gets 10years any more. this would only have happened if someone else is lined up (and if there isnt then there maybe trouble ahead).

'The Fat Controller' was actually a better manager then Dalglish

Worth sending in your CV anyway so they have it on record...... Or maybe you could bring the oranges out at half time as a temporary measure?
-
Unlucky, especially for the masterful R32UK

True. However towards the end of his term he was struggling. I really wanted him to stay.
Writing was on the walls the other week when he was given a vote of confidence by the board.
I think they should employ Dr Emett Brown. That way they can go back to the 80's!

Personally I would have liked to see him stay. Managers become the fall guys far too often for poor player performances.
There is only so much you can do from the touch line..
Yes, people will say the new signings didnt deliver, but how many would have thought that those players could play so poorly after a relatively good season last year. We needed those players, and therfore they would always walk into the team.
You need to make every player fight for their respective position. Something demonstrated very well by fergie this season by dropping rooney/young/berba/nani all without explanation. I dont really like the guy but as a manager hes up there with the best and commands that respect that all managers should have from their players.

Was Dalglish better than Roy Hodgson though? :lipsrsealed:

better win % would suggest yes. the fact that woy never won anything would suggest yes. I think if you wait a few weeks... you will see exactly why my next door neighbours cat is better than woy. get used to seeing woy rub and scratch his head (a little like next door neighbours cat)

Do you think he will worse than McClaren?
-
Managers are not given enough time these days. It's instant results that these owners are after. Look at Blackburns situation, look at Villa, look at Wolves all these teams have managers that jump back on the merry go round and will end up at the likes of Bolton, West Ham and others. Shame really.
Arsene has survived and so he should after yet again securing Champions League football, tropheys next season. I hope so.

Not sure, but I'd recommend Roy doesn't take an umbrella with him on the touch line.

He does that I've seen him, but you just know he's not going to be around for to long??

How long is his contract? No doubt about 4 years, so even though the FA have saved a few quid now, in a year or 2 they will be setting Roy up for his retirement with a ridiculously mahoosive payoff! He will be laughing then!
-
I'm gutted that King Kenny has gone. He was my football hero when I was a kid and will always be a legend in my eyes. I've been to quite a few games this season and I've seen us play really good and really bad. It's not all the managers fault and the players have to take some of the responsibility. We were short of a jonny liner to stand in the penalty area and tap in the crosses that came into the six yard box on numerous occassions. If we had that guy (you can get golascorers cheap right ? :laugh) we would have won a few of the tighter games and been further up the league and have something to build on for next season. As it is now, we will be paying catch up for a little while longer.

A few choice posts from the forum on Gwladrugby.com
"Best exchange I heard on Radio 5 last night.:-
Reporter - So do you think it's right that Kenny was sacked?
Scouser - Well you know la, it's like he's the king la but I can understand it
Reporter - Do you think he was the right appointment in the first place?
Scouser- Well thing is la, he's a legend but you should never go back
Reporter - So who should replace him?
Scouser - Rafa
Brilliant."

"Apropos of nothing in particular, but if you ever drive through Liverpool, you'll notice that their recycling bins are a violent purple. Nowhere else has bins this colour.
The reason why?
Apparently, the council committee were split over having them blue or having them red. The Everton fans on the committee said 'red ones won't get used down our way' and the Liverpool fans said 'blue ones won't get used down our way'. Yet they both wouldn't budge on having their representative colours used. (You'd have though that a green bin would be better, but this is Liverpool and logic goes out of the window.)
The impasse was broken when some bright spark said 'you can have red AND blue'. Hence the violent purple bins."

"As some wag has pointed out overnight, Dalglish is now unemployed to be even more at one with the local community"

"What the feck possess them to think 'right, they've sacked the bloke who was in charge, time to wonder down to the ground and meander about aimlessly'.
And then the BBC fecking film it.
FFs mun, get a grip. Really"

Just goes to show how good rafa actually was considering how poor those other yanks were!!
-
That table is nonsense. Claudio - I take it it refers to his Inter record - was Chelsea Manager for 4 years!
If the maker of the chart wanted a similar time period reference, why not pick the 17 months he was at Roma.
P 56
W 23
D 13
L 11
Win% 57.14
Talk about manipulating statistics.
-
I think that the chart refers to last months in charge. I would imagine RB's record would be sligtly better also

was reading something earlier that was saying that they are following a similar model to the US where a board would interview as many managers as possible. obviously in the premier league thats not really how things are done.
On sky they were discussing how brendan rogers did the smart thing to turn down the chance to speak to LFC, simply because it doesnt mean they will hire him. It would have put him in a difficult position if he had to stand in front of his players next season and ask them to be fully commited.
If it had been done behind closed doors it may have been a different story. Same goes for Martinez... as he was one of the first they wanted to speak to, he would have assumed that the job was his. Going to make him look real bad if they dont hire him.
Its a good idea speaking to lots of managers... but this has to be done in a certain way. Yanks not quite up to speed it seems :undecided:
-
Capello would do a good job at Liverpool
-
cannot argue with the mans stats! he has won the title where ever he goes.... but will he be deemed young and hungry enough??
I think the hunger to keep that record intact should be enough

He's Knocking on a bit , but you could have the title say in the next 2 or 3yrs depending on how much money there is to spend , How much did Rafa spend and you still didn't win the Premship????
-
I don't know why everyone is sh!tting on Martinez. He was fantastic at Swansea. Granted he left under a cloud after saying he would never leave, but from what he had to work with at Wigan, and his run in a the end of the season, he would do very well at Liverpool.
The Swansea way of playing was instigated by RM. Taken on a bit by Paolo Sosa, and polished by Brendan Rogers.
If you wan't Liverpool to play the fantastic passing game that the had in the 80's, he's your man.

Seems a contract is not worth the paper it's written on (BR only recently signed a 3 year deal with the Swans), and publicly stated that he "did not want to talk to Liverpool" a week ago.
Granted he didn't "do a Martinez" and pledge never to leave the Swans unless he was sacked, or in a coffin, but after they gave him the Swans job when he was unemployed (Swans have never poached a manager), his volte face, smacks of a man who is not as good as his word.
One ray of sunshine is that the Swans chairman will only get a new manager who plays the same way as the team, so watch out foe the appointment of some guy from Barca B team, or failing that Gus Poyet!
-
Lets face it.. the chairman could of easily said he is not available. He made a wise move in not talking to liverpool initially.
But lets face facts... liverpool or swansea?? well he is currently in a comfort zone i.e. nothing to lose at swansea. Atleast the man is up for a challenge
-
The scousers have taken a big risk appointing B Rogers , Martinez would have been better , But contract mean nothing these days if he fails just get sacked like the rest
-
Typical Scousers. You steal our manager and then don't want to pay for him!
Cast iron clause in BR's contract of £5M compensation, and LFC are stalling on paying up. Trying to negotiate a lower fee.
How embarrassing for LFC.
I hope the Liverpool board remember when Wigan held a press conference to announce Martinez as their new manager, and all they got was an empty chair. Huw Jenkins (Swans chairman) is no fool when it comes to money.
(13.55) Addendum:
Just announced they've paid up. Additional compo for the 3 staff he's taking with him.
-
How much is that sir?
its £5 million pounds
there you go... £5m in cash as you wanted
because thats how it happens
-
Some choice - even wise - words from BR, Liverpool's new manager.
Thought I'd post them up just in case a "I told you so" moment happens in the near future.
"I won't be here forever, but Swansea gave me my chance after I'd been sacked by Reading, and other clubs wouldn't touch me. I'm not going to repay them by running out on them now" - Daily Mirror
"I want to build a career, not destroy it," - Daily Mail
"I tried to run to the top of the mountain earlier in my career and I fell," he said referring to his period at Reading. "I fell back down to the bottom. I got a chance to climb it again and this time it's a steady walk for me and that's how I'm approaching it." - BBC
Last but not least:
"They understand what we're trying to achieve,' he said. 'But I could take this group of players to play the same football at other clubs and we wouldn't get the reaction we get from these fans." - Daily Mail
All the best Andy Carroll.
-
so your chairman getting £5m has nothing to do with it :lipsrsealed:
lets face it... the dude probably walked him out of the door.
