Is it possible to put a 1.8t into a 4mo? Can you get the box etc to match up? How much work if it is possible?
Cheers in advance. :)
-
ive not idea how you do it but ive seen loads of vids on youtube of 4mos converted to 1.8ts so it is doable.. surly would be better to charge the 2.8?
-
easiest way is to get everything from a donar S3. then put it in a 4 motion shell.
-
Why would you want to do that? Why not just buy a 1.8T? :undecided:
Or you thinking about a 4 wheel drive 1.8T?

could it not be done using s3 lump into 1.8t shell its still quattro with a bit more power :undecided:
or just buy an s3 1.8t with quattro already with no messing around

??? Quattro is the audi 4x4 system!
-
Would the 1.8T produce enough power to make the 4 wheel drive worth it? I mean what are the 4mo engines producing stock?

Well I'm running quite abit of power in my 1.8t gti and it's useless just spins up.. And the smallest amout of rain then it's just terrible.. I also have a metg kit n few other bits that I've not yet done.. Have considered a s3.. Just really like the mk4 and thought it would be difrent

The S3 models between 99 and 03 uses the same system as the golf 4motion and r32 Haldex!! even though its called quattro it isnt
-
It has been done plenty of times; chap on here has done it; should be a project thread kicking around somewhere
FYI - Quattro is only fitted to A4's and above; S3's use the Haldex system as found in the 4Motion and R32. Got to love those marketing chaps
-
Traditionally Quattro was permanent 50/50 (I think) 4WD system
Haldex splits the drive to whatever wheel is deemed to need it by the ECU
-
quattro is permanent 4x4 haldex basically engages 4x4 when you lose traction etc
-
Get a cheap A3 1.8T quattro if that's what you want.

Maybe not the best example but you get the idea.
-
Yohan has done it (http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/420434.aspx (http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/420434.aspx))
However, what troubles are you actually having with yours spinning? I run about 330-350bhp in mine and have no real wheel spin issues unless its really icey. Maybe better tyres and an LSD would be a cheaper, quicker, easier option? Or a slightly gentler right foot?
-
Tuned TDI lump into a 4motion now thats a conversion
-
just get an a3 tdi quattro  its already done for you
-
but aldi's are ugly.
-
yeah the wifes got an a3 sport tdi much more comfortable than the golf seats are same as recaro without the badge and a lot firmer but it does look crap  oh and its slow
-
Yep, I'd rather have a TT than a A3 :nerd:
