Don't test drive a mates fast car at a meet. It'll end in tears.*
Nick
* Not me, but someone I know!

Aye.
The majority of fast cars that end up at the workshop don't get driven onto the road for this very fact.
The RX7 was an exception though.

Sadly no pictures as I had gone home already. Lets just say there is now a very Banana shaped MX5 BBR Turbo and some dented pride.

I guess so but the purpose was more of a heads up to think about taking someone elses car for spin without thinking of the what ifs.
There is no thread, pics or video at the moemnt due to needing to get things straight with insurance.

I got a friend who test drove a Porsche he was interested in gave it far to much on the test drive & crashed it, had to buy the car at full asking price then get it repaired
-
Had this with mates on bikes .
Swapped bikes and 4 miles later, one totalled £8 grand bike. Third party insurance only.
He is still paying it off now
-
Nick, about that test drive of the ZT+ ... I'll take it easy, I don't want to go mucking up that paint work

Back in the days of taking a car for a test drive after MOT, 19 year old lad working at a garage up the road from where i worked decided a customers TVR tuscan needed a "test run" , too much lead on the right pedal and we all watched him take out a chaain fence backwards while loading a tractor onto a lorry! thatd be a ncie phone call to the boss!

similar thing happend when my young cousin took my 535i sport out   ended up in some poor womens garden after going backwards through her fence

Simelar thing happend to a mates 206. the apprentice of the garage that was fixing it took it out spun it put it through. a fence. then took it back amd managed to repair all the damage over the next week withput the boss finding out. my mate got it home. noticed the panels didnt match up and were slightly diff colour and that the car didnt drive streight. found out that when it had gone off roading through a fence it hit a large bump and think he said managed to bend the chasis a little bit :lipsrsealed:

I was 17 at the time and my driving licence was 2 weeks old, said to my mate give us a go ,he said ok, about 10 seconds later, total right off ,he was proper chuffed

Luckily these chaps have sorted things out. The driver who borrowed the car has sourced a mint shell and the car is going to be reshelled over the next couple of months. The owner of the car has been very chilled out about it with the opinion that he was partly to blame as he let James drive it. It also does seem on initial inspection that the LSD failed and locked up which caused the accident. It's a shame though as geniune BBR turbo MX5s are not that common.
