Title: Boot handle replacement
Post by: richw911 on 20 March 2012, 13:33
After fixing the leaking wiper motor and corroded latch about 2 years ago, I thought it was about time I did the corroded boot handle seeing as I had bought the handle at the same time and had all the paint etc.!

Part number 1J6 827 565 B GRU.

Gave the already primed handle a few coats of indigo blue:

Re fit when the paint is fully hardened just hope the barrel comes out of the old handle ok lol.

cool mate, should look better with the new one. I caught my wiper motor before it did any real damage to the handle luckily

New lock now fitted along with the handle  A new lock is £42.88 from TPS and comes with new barrel and everything needed its part number 1J6827297G

I painted both sides of the handle and used lots of copper grease (I had an aerosol can made it easy to spray in) when re fitting parts to stop it happening again, the new handle comes with a new gasket so it should be all water tight again.
